Game Thread THE GAME: #1 tOSU at tCun, Sat. Nov. 29th, 12 pm ET, FOX

Absolutely agree.

The 2002 team may have been the least deserving NC in history. If six plays had gone a different way that team ccould have finished .500. And any of you young pups who aren't familiar with how those games played out you owe it to yourselves to do some research.*

But those plays didn't go the other way and that was an incredible year.

*I refreshed my own memory so here is a brief recap:

Scored with 4 minutes left against Cincinnati to win by 4.
Scored the only TD of the second half in the 4th quarter to beat Wisconsin by 5.
Needed a Chris Gamble interception return (which could have been called for interference) to beat PSU BY 6.
If you aren't familiar with "Holy Buckeye" against Purdue why are you even here? That was a 4th and ball game call to win by 4.
Beat Illinois by 7 - in frickin OT.
Intercepted a pass in the endzone with one second left to beat UM by 5. And this after taking the lead with less than 5 minutes remaining.
And the tension in the Fiesta Bowl itself was beyond description. The McGahee injury, the Doss interception, the Dorsey funble, the Clarett strip, the holding on Gamble. Just a few of the plays that decided that game.
Least deserving is a ludicrous statement. Phenomenal defense, all-time OSU kicker, first 14-0 team ever, beat five ranked teams including the PAC 12 (maybe 10 then?) champion and the undefeated defending national champions, were physical as hell, and put a huge number of guys into the NFL. The offensive scheme may have kept games closer than we’d have wanted, but they were very deserving.

It pays to be a young dumb idiot, because in 2002 I somehow just never thought we'd lose any of those games. And I know it was pure ignorance on my part, but at the time it was like watching MacGuyver to see how we'd get out of this one.

edit: besides the NC. I was very certain Miami was walking away with that one.
Once Holy Buckeye happened, I was pretty sure it was our year. And I knew that Miami didn’t have close to the D that their 2001 juggernaut had. I was struck dumb when it looked like Miami had won for a second before the flag came out.

"Least deserving"? Maybe most improbable, but they earned every bit of that NC. First 14-0 team ever against a tough schedule and ended a dynasty loaded with NFL talent. They aren't even top 50 least deserving with all the non-undefeated teams and soft ass winners like 84 BYU

God. Can you imagine how insufferable they'd be if they were forced to make a change to their stadium?

I have a 7-step plan that will solve all of the problems with their tunnel situation.

Step 1. Tear the stadium down and haul away the rubble
Step 2. Have a beer
Step 3. Have another beer
Step 4. Have another beer
Step 5. Have another beer
Step 6. Have a final beer
Step 7. Piss all over the ground where the stadium stood

I'm a fucking problem-solver.
