Ohio State destined to win this one, and the next one, too

At the University of Michigan, an e-mail warning from the school's administration was sent to students planning their travels to Columbus, Ohio, for The Biggest Game in the History of the Known Universe Ever.
The message was basically this: Keep calm or you will get your ass beat by Buckeyes fans.
The warnings sounded like something from a Jon Stewart skit. Try to drive a car with non-Michigan plates was one piece of advice (feel free to borrow my Jersey tags, guys). Stay low-key was another. Stay low-key? What does that mean exactly? Wear a trench coat, sunglasses and fake mustache?
Are these Michigan fans going to a football game?
Or Turjikistan?
Is there going to be someone waiting at the Ohio border, stopping Michigan fans and asking, "Can I see your papers, please?"
Hopefully, no beat-downs will be administered, no police on horseback needed, no sofas burned in the streets.
But I'm afraid those Wolverines fans who do arrive safely are going to be sorely disappointed.
Because Ohio State is not only going to win this game, they aren't going to lose another game this season. That means winning the national championship.
It's a stone, frigid lock. And unlike my man Pete Prisco, I don't get many picks wrong.
(There you go again, Mr. Columnist Man, risking the wrath of yet another college football fan base. The Gators, the Louisville Cardinals, the Buckeyes. Who you gonna anger next? The Connecticut School for the Blind?)
It is true that the sad and unfortunate passing of the legendary Bo Schembechler has changed the tone of this great game. For the moment, there is more appreciation than buzz, more retrospective than frenzy. For the moment.
For the moment, we are not Ohio State or Michigan or college football fans, but Schembechler fans. Even the most ardent Michigan hater, if that person appreciates one ounce of college football history, understands how much Schembechler means to the sport.
Schembechler would have hated all of the dedications and nice words about him. "Just shut up and play," he might say. So they will, and they should.
He would have probably hated these words, too, but if there is such a thing as a dynasty growing under cloak, it's Ohio State. They keep rolling, rolling, rolling, and we almost overlook just how good they are.
They go through the ferocious Big Ten without a blemish and unlike Michigan, which has had a noble season, doing what no one thought it would, the Buckeyes have won all of their games despite having a weighty target on their back.
There was a time when I thought Pete Carroll was building the next great dynasty in college football. It's not Carroll. It's Jim Tressel continuing the dynasty he started several years ago.
The Buckeyes will beat Michigan for two obvious reasons. Quarterback Troy Smith is the most talented player in college football now. He has averaged 300 yards of offense against Michigan, and to stop him, the Wolverines will need their front four to get pressure on him. If they can't, and are forced to blitz, Smith will beat it with either a big run or a deep pass.
The other reason is the Ohio State defense. It is still the most talented in the country despite losing nine starters. There are seven players from last season's team on NFL rosters. Yet they are still tops in the country in the fewest points allowed per game and first in turnover margin.
While I do not like everything Tressel does as a head coach, the fact he has this team in this position is remarkable.
Tressel is already the best college football recruiter of all time. He is now quickly approaching the best college coach of this generation or any other.
Home-field advantage, the better quarterback, the better defense, the better head coach.
It adds up to all Ohio State.
(My e-mail box explodes with ugly notes from Michigan fans in three, two, one ...)
Go ahead, Wolverines, call me a Buckeyes butt-kisser, which would be odd since Ohio State fans think I am a Buckeyes hater and a Florida Gators lover, while the Gators believe I am a Gator hater and Cardinals fans believe I'm just a hater. I'm confused.
I'm none of those things. Just a guy expressing an opinion. So stop whining.
While the redoubtable Dennis Dodd will be in Columbus working hard for The Man, I'll be at home, on my couch, in my underwear and a tank top, eating Pop Tarts and Captain Crunch, hoping Maurice Clarett e-mails me back, while watching the big game.
I'll also be witnessing the beginning of Ohio State's run to capturing another national title.
