They kept the plot very close to that of Infernal Affairs. I had seen Infernal Affairs last summer, but still really enjoyed The Departed when I saw it recently.

Good movie. Portrayel of violence is very similar to Goodfellas. (surprise surprise)

Wahlberg is awesome in it. Actually everyone is including Alec Baldwin. As far as Martin Scorsesee(sp?) films go, I would say this isn't as good as Goodfellas, but is better than Casino.

A plus is the soundtrack, but then I am a Dropkick Murphys fan.

I know I'm a broken record on this, but if you like "the Departed" rent the Hong Kong original "Infernal Affairs." http://www.lovehkfilm.com/reviews_2/infernal_affairs.htm

I really liked the film-especially the Dropkick Murphy's in the soundtrack, but the ending was a bit over the top,IMO. Jack Nicholson stole the movie, IMO, and Wahlberg was chilling in the final scene.
It is still ridiculous that this film won Best Picture and Goodfellas did not-NOTHING tops Goodfellas!

I didn't realize Goodfellas and Departed were released in the same year. :roll1:

sheesh, cornerback. you may want to warn people that you are including a vital spoiler. while those who have not watched the movie probably shouldn't enter this thread now, many bpers use bpspy and can't help but read your spoiler.

Thought this thread was for those who've seen it. Mi culpa.

excellent movie. i was impressed.

on a side note, i did a search and didn't find anything, but has anyone seen The Prestige?

There was some recent discussion on that in the 'Last Movie You've Seen" thread.

edit - sorry, it was The Illusionist that was discussed in that other thread.
