The CW has great HD broadcasts of high school football games

The game on the CW tonight was a blowout. But I got to listen to the end of the game between Pickerington Central and Pickerington North on the radio. Josh Perry used to work the Friday night football games on 97.1 The Fan but he’s moved on to bigger things. Tyvis Powell took his place. He does a good job.

Pick North snapped a seven game losing streak to Pick Central. Trailing 10-0 with less than two minutes left, they kicked a FG and then got a strip and score to tie it up. Pick Central missed the FG to win it. Then in OT Pick North intercepted the ball in the end zone and sealed the upset with a FG. Their fans rushed the field. Tyvis was enthused. He said, “Right now, my heart is filled with joy.” Not because he has a connection to either team. Just for the love of the game.

He also said it was well worth the $5 he had to pay for parking.

Holy crap! Listening to Olentangy at Reynoldsburg on the radio and Reynoldsburg, down 7 with seconds left, completes the Hail Mary to come within 1 pt with 0.4 seconds to go. They line up to go for 2 and the win but a penalty sets them back. So they go for the XP to tie but there’s a bad snap and the kick is blocked so they lose 31-30.

Reynoldsburg dominated most of their first game at Upper Arlington but allowed the Golden Bears to come back from 20 pts down to win the game late. They’re now 0-4. That’s got to sting.

And Tyvis Powell is awesome on the call. The Columbus Academy vs. Bishop Ready game wasn’t really all that competitive so I had the sound down and was listening to the other game on the radio. Josh Perry attended Olentangy and Tyvis engaged in a little smack talk.

Tonight on the CW it’s a Central Catholic League matchup between St. Francis De Sales and Bishop Hartley. De Sales is Luke Fickell’s alma mater. Doing a little search I found that they’ve got a LB Jonathan Thompson committed to Luke’s Bearcats. I also found this:

Hartley wins 31-20. Apparently Thompson was out due to an injury. The announcers commented about how he would’ve been a difference maker on offense and defense for De Sales if he was available. In a bit of a coincidence, Bishop Hartley has a DE by the name of Daniel Tooson that 247sports has projected to go to...Akron.

One of the announcers also made a good comment about never hearing of a Catholic team named after a tree. An obvious dig at Bishop Sycamore. I thought that was kind of funny.

Last night Dublin Coffman beat Olentangy Orange 34-28 in double OT. It was a great game. Dublin started out with a 14-0 lead and then Olentangy scored 21 unanswered. And then Dublin scored the tying TD to force OT with under 2:00 left.

For most of the game I had the volume turned down while I listened to the 34-0 blowout of Dublin Jerome by Marysville on the radio because I really enjoy listening to Tyvis Powell on the call. It was 7-0 at halftime. After the first score, Tyvis asked if that would be enough. Turned out it was.

They weren't unanswered points if the other team then answered.
That’s not how it works. That’s not how it works at all. You see, if a team scores 21 points while the other team scores in between, then it’s not 21 points unanswered. 21 points without the other team scoring is the definition of 21 points unanswered. It wasn’t 28 points unanswered because of the Shamrocks’ score to force OT.

No he's not new to football, and he also knows what is and what isn't a rivalry.....

Unanswered means the other team didn't score. In your case, the other team eventually answered...so they weren't unanswered points. They were consecutive, but not unanswered.

This also isn't exclusive to football, so not sure what you're ranting about there.
