The Cinnamon Challenge

BigWoof31

"Barkin' up the wrong tree"
At the bars last night - I was challenged by my group of idiot friends to do this.

I did a little research on what it was and holy shit this looks awesome:

Anyone know where/how this got started?

Cinnamon challenge? Ha! Try the Alum challenge...just make sure you know the meaning of the word 'emetic' before you do it.

It's a cinnamon "overdose" Since cinnamon has been a popular spice for thousands of years, I'm pretty sure this kind of "test" has been going on that long as well. It's been used for just this reaction in the past when medicine was still roots, berries, and bark.

There are no known drug interactions. While no deaths have been reported from ?cinnamon overdose,? excessive use can produce gastric discomfort in the form of heartburn, diarrhea, increased heart rate, flushing, and shortness of breath. As always, assess for hypersensitivity before advising the use of cinnamon. Cinnamon is available in a variety of forms for medicinal use. Capsules of ground powder (similar to kitchen-grade cinnamon) should be used in a 2-4 g/day dosage, while a cinnamon tincture is dosed at 1-3 mL daily. Multiple teas, essential oils, and other concoctions are widely available.

Like anything stupid, trying to drink a gallon of milk within a certain time limit, etc, its trying to bypass automatic, autonomic, reactions of your body.

In a different life long ago, I made a $100 bucks one night bar-tending when I challenged a co-worker to do this. I made sure we got him a fresh gallon of whole milk.

been there done that.

a crew of us at the office tried it.
half of us did it, the other half couldn't.

secret is to do it slowly.
if you try to swallow it too fast, it will dry up all the saliva in your mouth, and you'll never do it.

our warehouse manager figured he would do it fast.
slammed it back like it was a shot, and pretty much inhaled it.

funny as hell to watch him running to a faucet and gasping for air.
