Carmen's Crew also announced the additions of Otterbein alum and Columbus-native Jeff Gibbs as well as Illinois alum Demetri McCamey.
With the three additions, Ohio State now has an eight-man roster also featuring Aaron Craft, Jon Diebler, William Buford, David Lighty and the aforementioned Ravenel, along with coaches Jared Sullinger and Evan Turner.
Carmen's Crew's TBT title defense is slated to begin on campus as Ohio State is partnering with the tournament to host the Columbus Regional in the school's new Covelli Center from July 23-26.

Smith was actually announced as an addition to the team last year, but never made an appearance with the team. His addition makes sense, however, as Smith is a former teammate of every Buckeye alum on the current roster, arriving in the same recruiting class as Aaron Craft.
Since leaving Ohio State, Smith has played in the EuroLeague, finding recent success in the Israeli league with Hapoel Eilat in 2018-19 and Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2019.
Smith played 15 games with Eilat, averaging 12.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game before leaving the team with an injury. He then joined Tel Aviv the next year, and promptly scored 25 points in his debut, while shooting 6-of-11 from three-point range, along with five rebounds and seven assists.
With the addition of Smith, Carmen's Crew now has a nine-man roster featuring seven Buckeyes – Aaron Craft, Jon Diebler, William Buford, David Lighty, Evan Ravenel and Dallas Lauderdale – along with coaches Jared Sullinger and Evan Turner. The team will also feature non-Buckeyes Jeff Gibbs, a Columbus-native as well as Illinois alum Demetri McCamey.

The Basketball Tournament is still on for 2020, but it will be played in a modified format due to COVID-19.
As announced in a news release on Wednesday, this year's TBT will feature 24 teams and will consist of 23 games played over 10 days, all in a single location.
All participants will be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival at the location, which has not yet been announced, and will be quarantined for the duration of the tournament. Participants will be tested again after a quarantine period and screened regularly for symptoms, and any positive test will result in the removal of that participant's team from the tournament.
Two other teams featuring Ohio State alumni are also hoping to play in this year's tournament: Big X, whose roster includes Andrew Dakich, C.J. Jackson, Andre Wesson and Keyshawn Woods, and Great Lakes Elite, a new team started by former Ohio State walk-on Jake Lorbach whose roster includes Marc Loving and Kam Williams. With more than 115 teams applying to participate in this year's tournament, however, it's uncertain whether those teams will make the cut down to 24.

ET TO TBT? Folks, if you think I'm gonna get worked up about a cryptic deleted Tweet from Ohio State's alumni TBT team, you're damn right.
The TBT Twitter account and Carmen's Crew each shared the following extremely interesting exchange yesterday evening. Both Tweets have since been deleted, but thanks to Slack history is forever.
Now, I don't want to get anyone's hopes too high because there's a strong chance this is the trolliest way imaginable to announce that Leon Rodgers is joining the roster, but there's also a non-zero chance this refers to Evan Turner.
The Minnesota Timberwolves' season officially ended yesterday, marking the end of Turner's NBA contract. Meaning, as yesterday, Turner is not an NBA basketball player and is free to play in the TBT. More than that, NBA free agency isn't for another four months after the league's schedule change. So if there's ever a year where it makes sense for an NBA player between contracts to suit up for an exhibition tournament, it's this year.
I don't know if it's actually going to happen, and the fact that they quickly deleted the Tweets gives me a good bit of pessimism, but it's at least possible this year, and every part of me wants to see it happen.
If it does turn out to be true, all eyes would turn Big X, where we would eagerly await the signing of The Villain's kryptonite Mark "The Shark" Titus.

TBT TO C-BUS. COVID-19 has forced The Basketball Tournament to reevaluate some things, but it's looking like the TBT could be played in Columbus after all. It's just going to look quite a bit different differerent.
The annual event, which has featured teams playing for a $2 million, winner-take-all prize, has been forced to adapt to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Now in its seventh year, TBT will trim its field from 64 teams to 24 teams, all of whom will play in one location.
Columbus was initially selected as one of nine host cities, marking the second consecutive year TBT would hold games . Games were slated to be held at Ohio State’s Covelli Center from July 23-26, while the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship were to be played August 6-11 at the University of Dayton.

Complicating matters is the fact that Columbus is also a finalist to be one of two hub cities when the NHL resumes play, making it unlikely that both events could take place in the same city.
A formal announcement could come as soon as Monday.
I'm not going to pretend to have sources advising me on this matter, but I honestly have a hard time believing these two events couldn't take place in the same city.
The TBT was played at Capital University the past two years and was going to be held at the Covelli Center this year, so it's not like they're going to be fighting over the same venues or anything. And maybe I'm ill-informed about the city's hospitality industry, but I feel like there will be plenty of housing for both if need be.
Regardless, I'm hoping Carmen's Crew gets to win $2 million in a tournament that takes place on Ohio State's campus simply so that Thad Matta's squeaky-clean legacy goes full circle and those players get to make bank playing on the same court where they notoriously didn't make a cent.
