The Agony in Ann Arbor 10/17/15 (official photo thread of "oh crikey!, I've dropped it!")

Watching the last drive replay on BTN, 1st down rush and 2nd down rush both snapped with 10 seconds left on the play clock. The 3rd down snap was with 11 seconds left. Forget the punter, clock management was the killer. Coach Neanderthal needs an abacus.

Edit: Noticed the TO situation, but you still run outside sweeps to kill the clock. Not the gut runs. And take it down to zero on the clock, you think the refs are going to still be making up calls at that point

There's been a lot of complaining about refs on some M*ch*gan boards. But its very generic. I didn't get to see much of the game, but I hear it was equally bad reffing. But winners don't complain as much as losers do. Are there any specific examples anyone has found?

Oh, it was bad. Pretty sure one of the refs called a penalty on Nebraska in that MSU/UM game...

and now, no matter how much they rationalize from here forward, the scUM faithful just got a a dose of The Harbaugh in defeat

Bitch made punk's first reaction is 1,000 yard stare/blame officiating/blame the kid who didn't execute the brilliant play he called.

To say nothing of Harbaugh's great idea to have a completely uncovered gunner when MSU had no one back to field the punt.

Mike Valenti's opening radio segment from Monday is linked below. Pretty hilarious... I can't figure out how to link directly to that podcast, so you have to scroll down to Monday, Oct 19th.

FWIW... "Valenti & Foster" is the most popular sports radio show in Detroit by far. Valenti is, in my IMO, the most talented and entertaining sports radio guy in the business. He's an MSU grad that you may remember from "The Rant" when Notre Dame beat MSU in 2006.

Posted this in the shenanigans thread, but it is more appropriately said here (and, let's be honest, deserves to be posted twice):

Just when I think this can't get any better, ol' Fred Flintstone shows up on the scene and starts second-guessing HARBAUGH, saying he (Hoke) wouldn't have punted.

Predictably, the mgoblog readership is afire, trashing Hoke.

So I rewatched the last drive.

On first down, they snapped it early, but the game clock was stopped anyway with the change of possession, so it didn't matter.
On second down, they again snapped it early, but MSU had used its last timeout after first down, so it didn't matter.
On third down, the game clock was rolling, and they snapped the ball with 11 seconds left on the play clock (as you pointed out). Those 11 seconds absolutely were wasted and Michigan could have burned them off the clock.
On fourth down, the difference between the game clock and the play clock was only 9 seconds. So, if HARBAUGH!!!!! had told Rudock to use all of the play clock on third down, they never would have needed to even snap the ball on fourth--the game would have been over.

In other words, bad clock management cost Michigan the game. In all of the write-ups and posts on Michigan blogs I've read regarding this game (and, trust me, I've read plenty ), I've never seen one of those clowns acknowledge Harbaugh's gaffe.
