Absolutely wrong. The delay allowed the medical professionals in the B1G to develop a plan to protect players, coaches, staff and officials while retaining a schedule that will allow the conference champion to play for the National Championship.

I'm much more confident that the Big Ten will complete its schedule successfully than I am the ACC will. I see no evidence that they're as protective as we are of player welfare. And that's going to be remembered by recruits in future years.

I think it’s more likely that it will be remembered by parents of recruits in future years, and that could be beneficial.

Bullshit. The players were back to training/practicing weeks before the decision was made to chuck the season. The protocols to protect players and coaches were already in place.

They cancelled the season 6 days after issuing a revised schedule, not because of a sudden "Gee, maybe we better have a plan to protect players and coaches" epiphany, but because they got scared shitless by a since-debunked myocarditis panic and/or players organizing.

They have more of a chance for make up games than the B1G will have since anything is more than zero. Plus, even if they can't make up all of them they started with 11-12 games. Cancelling 3 still gives them as many as the B1G has scheduled going into it.

The 5 weeks the B1G flushed away served no practical purpose. Reactionary, and ultimately indecisive, "leaders" made a difficult situation worse.

I do not think these positions are mutually exclusive. While the zero margin for error, pointed out by @Jake is completely true, it also remains that as @MaxBuck states that the plan that was developed was to insure the safety of the programs / players / staff.

What remains to be seen is if the plan is incrementally better at increasing safety for all than having a bit of room in the schedule should there be a outbreak. Ultimately, the goal of zero outbreaks would lead to no cancellations or postponements, suggesting that the plan was a more effective strategy.

Remains to be seen... but if the tests do as they are purported, my money is on the current plan as opposed to rolling the dice that three extra weeks in the schedule would be sufficient to get teams through a season.
