The 2020 College Football Season

Wonder if Micah Parsons will come back. Have to think he will. To me Parsons was an example of the difference between Florida Urban & Ohio State Urban. Florida Urban finds a way to smooth over that official visit fiasco and get him on the football tam. Not saying one is better than the other.

There are some complications for Parsons coming back, he signed with an gent and probably received money.

James Franklin 'having conversations' with Micah Parsons

“I was told Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons is ‘thinking about it’ and weighing options on if he wants to opt back in for the season or not,” VanHaaren tweeted. “He declared for the draft and signed with an agent, so he would have some hoops to jump through to get back his eligibility.”

Prior to VanHaaren’s report on Thursday, Parsons sent out another cryptic tweet. He sent one out on Wednesday after the Big Ten announced they would bring football back in October.

“At this age I never seen so many hard decisions I’ve been faced with!,” Parsons tweeted.

On Thursday afternoon, Franklin stoked the fires ever-slightly when he told the media that there’s always a door open for a talent like Parsons to return to the fold.

The would-be true junior, who said he is on track to get his degree in December, signed with agents Andre Odom and David Mulugheta of Athletes First shortly after his announcement last month. While rules have yet to be established regarding the eligibility of players who signed with agents (Parsons is reportedly one of six Big Ten prospects that has signed with an agent according to the NFLPA), there has been buzz that the NCAA would consider allowing those players to return to school after going through the proper channels.

“Well, you always keep the door open but, um, I think there's obviously a big difference between somebody that opted out a week ago compared to somebody that opted out multiple weeks ago,” Franklin said on a conference call with reporters. “It just it makes it more complicated. So it was pretty fun hitting Micah up right after it happened and watching all the fans go crazy.

“So we’ll see… we’ll see how it all plays out, but obviously it makes it more complicated the longer they’ve been gone. But I also know that Micah, as well as others, probably wouldn’t be in this situation, if it wasn’t for the circumstances that we’re under. I don’t think that anybody — the NCAA, the Big Ten, Penn State specifically, can just put this back in to the same box that it’s always been in, because nothing right now is like it’s always been.

“As you know I’m a positive guy, so I’m going to see if there’s a way we can work it out and get him back here if it’s in everybody’s best interest, most importantly Micah’s.”

Just sayin': If they let Parsons play then Fields, Wade, and Davis, etc. should be able to sign with an agent, get some money now, and still play the season too.

I looked into the potential for him to come back this morning as I also wondered. When I saw that the signed with an agent I quit reading. This year has been crazy on all fronts but I can't imagine that -- even in this craziest of years -- would ever cave on that issue. Nobody forced him to sign with an agent. Nobody forced him to take money. These were choices that he made, and even under the circumstances at the time, not a requirement to declare his intentions and start training for the combine.

I'm sure that there will be some attempts to get a waiver, should he really want to come back, but if the NCAA wanted to slow play this until the end of December so as to avoid having to make a decision, the absolutely could do it. My guess is that if there's an attempt for a waiver it's either a quick "absolutely not" or it gets dragged out across the calendar until it's a moot point.

The other factor is that there is some buzz about guys being able or come back since Warren said “the decision will not be revisited”.

That should NOT apply to Parsons, who declared for the draft when the B1G still had a September start date, a few days before the August 11th decision to postpone. He bailed when it still looked like there was a fall season. Completely different from Wade, Davis, etc.

I'd say Ohio State Urban was farrrrr better than Florida Urban.

And there’s another...Notre Dame at Wake officially postponed.

It’s been said but this is going to be a weird season.

It's the Domers that tested positive, not Wake Forrest:

The Notre Dame-Wake Forest football game scheduled for Saturday has been postponed after the Irish announced 13 players are in isolation.

In a statement Tuesday, Notre Dame said seven players tested positive for coronavirus out of 94 tests done Monday. Combined with testing results from last week, 13 players are in isolation, with 10 in quarantine. As a result, Notre Dame has paused all football-related activities. The two schools are working on a date to reschedule the game.

That's why I was hoping The Game would be first even as sacrilegious as that may seem.

It's your only game that's close to 100% guaranteed of 1) being played and 2) played at full strength.
