2008 BP Awards - Open for voting

For the past 3 years, the members of BuckeyePlanet have voted for the top college football players at each position, plus the best overall player, and the best head coach. These awards, which are named after Buckeye greats, are like our versions of the Heisman, the Butkus, the Thorpe, etc. Past award winners are linked below:
The W.W. Hayes - best coach (2005, 2006 2007)
The Griffin - best overall player (2005, 2006 2007)
The Troy - best QB (2005, 2006 2007)
The George - best RB (2005, 2006 2007)
The Boston-Carter - best receiver (2005, 2006 2007)
The Pace-Parker Pancake - best OL (2005, 2006 2007)
The Big Daddy - best DL (2005, 2006 2007)
The Spielman - best LB (2005, 2006 2007)
The Assassin - best DB (2005, 2006 2007)
The Nuuuuuuge - best kicker (2005, 2006 2007)
The Skladany - best punter (2005, 2006 2007)
BP All American Team (2005, 2006 2007)
If you would like to vote this year, here are the simple rules:
  • Send your ballot to me, by PM, by noon on Tuesday, December 9th.
  • For each award, please list your top three selections, in order from first to third. A first place vote will be worth three points, a second place vote two points, and a third place vote one point. It is very important to list three players per award, as at least one of the winners from a previous year had fewer first place votes than the runner-up, but accumulated more overall points due to 2nd and 3rd place votes.
  • You need not vote on every award. For example, some people may not want to waste time trying to figure out the nation's best punter, but really want to cast their votes for Malcolm Jenkins for The Assassin. That's fine with me - I just ask that your partial ballot contain three players for each award on which you actually voted.
  • If you are a college football junkie, and/or having nothing better to do with your time, I would appreciate complete ballots so that we can name winners for The Nuuuuuuge, The Skladany, The Pancake, and some of the other awards which aren't too sexy (or which require too much research/game watching).
  • Please try to be reasonable with your selections. Obviously, voting for James Laurinaitis is not a "homer" pick, but the idea is not to give every award to a Buckeye. Strive to be fair and objective.
  • Anyone and everyone can vote! You don't need any special qualifications to vote, other than the ability to: (a) send me a PM (b) with your ballot (c) with three selections per award (d) on or before noon on Tuesday, December 9th. It's that easy! Now go vote!
  • If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a PM.
Thanks to LordJeffBuck, who originated this concept and ran it in previous years - I'm just filling in for him this year.

Note: You do not have to vote for the BP All-America team; the team will be comprised of the top vote-getters from each award.

PS - as an incentive for voting, you will receive "greenies" from me upon submitting your ballot.
