Game Thread That Team Up North @ Ohio State - 11/24/18, The '62' Game, Revenge Revoked

Wolverines' defense tips cap to Buckeyes after Ohio State's blowout win

Ohio State's offense "slowly devastated" the best statistical defense in the country on a record-setting day for the Buckeyes.

Michigan safety Tyree Kinnel said he couldn't pinpoint a specific time in the 62-39 Ohio State victory Saturday when things went awry. The senior and team captain said no one in the visiting locker room escaped blame for the loss.

"They slowly devastated us throughout the game. Knowing all the yards they were putting up and how easily they were scoring, it was tough. It was very tough," Kinnel said. "They completely beat us everywhere. Run game, pass game, everyone is to blame."

The defense for No. 4 Michigan had not allowed more than 24 points in a game this season, but it surrendered that many in the first two quarters before things truly got out of hand after halftime. The nation's No. 1 passing defense gave up 318 passing yards and five touchdowns through the air, allowing Buckeyes quarterback Dwayne Haskins to set Big Ten records for passing yards and passing touchdowns in a season.

The 62 points allowed were the most a Michigan defense has yielded in a regulation-length game in program history. It also had never allowed more than 50 points to Ohio State in the 114 previous meetings between the teams.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said after the game that he was aware the point total was unprecedented.

They still suck.

Urban is 7-0 against the skunkbears. That’s a lot of kids who have gone through that program and haven’t won The Game.

May he have 10 more classes that don’t see a win against his Buckeye coached teams.

I'm hardly positive. Hoping the Bucks pull the W out of their ass, but I don't see how any one can draw a positive assessment for them in a comparison of the seasons these two teams have had. Michigan has looked stronger in every comparable game.

I'm also concerned by Bosa's decision to drop out of school and run back to Florida. He didn't want to risk further injury - I get that. But he could have stayed and recouped with the team. The facilities and the medical personnel would have been open to him. To me, it speaks volumes about a lack of loyalty to the rest of the team and I wonder if that isn't endemic with the whole team; I'll take care of me, the rest of you can go pound sand. You can bet your ass that Winoinch will be there, whether he dresses or not.

Like I say, hoping and cheering for the W, but prepared for a 20 point ass kicking.

Maybe someday you'll realize that this isn't 1970 anymore, and Bo isn't coaching Michigan. They've had a series of clowns coaching them since Bo left, and only you seem to be unable to understand that. Their coach is a cartoon character at this point, and in case you haven't been watching (spoiler alert: you haven't), their players are similarly a bunch of cartoon-like clowns who have no respect for their opponent or the game. They've done nothing to deserve the respect that you insist on giving them. If you can't wrap your head around any of this and persist in defying all logic, then, hell, just out yourself as a Michigan fan and join them, for crying out loud. You've basically been doing as much for the past 10 years or so on this board.

From mgoblog's preview of The Game:

Finally, three opportunities for me to look stupid Sunday:

  • Shea Patterson has 30 passing attempts and averages 10 YPA.
  • A Very Dumb second quarter makes us all want to die as Michigan goes into the half with a narrow lead that should be more.
  • Michigan, 40-27

Let's take them in turn, shall we?

First one: FAIL. Patterson finished with 34 passing attempts, but with only 187 yards passing. In other words, 5.5 yards per attempt
Second one: FAIL. scUM was down 24-19 at the half, and, as we all saw, very lucky to only be down 5. The second half, things reverted to the mean, and scUM was both exposed and blown out.
Third one: Colossal FAIL. He predicted a scUM win by 13, and they lost by 23. He was only off by 36 points. What's worse, that last scUM TD was in junk time.
