Hugh Douglas and Byron Leftwich of the Jacksonville Jaguars were on ESPN's SportsCenter game show "HearSay" yesterday. The game is similar to classic game show "Password" where one team member must lead the other to a secret word or phrase (all sports related in this case) without uttering four 'forbidden' related terms.
Anyway, Byron was playing to Hugh, and up came 'Ichiro'. First words out of Leftwich's mouth were, "That Chinese dude..." With a little extra prodding, Douglas came up with the answer. One of the 'forbidden' words, of course, was 'Japanese'.
I don't know about you guys, but I was deeply offended by this, and I hope both men are severely reprimanded by the league and forced to issue a formal apology to Ichiro, to Ichiro's family, and to the people of both China and Japan.
Shame on you, Byron. Shame on you.
