Re: the commissioner protecting the shield, I’d be astounded if Sorsby isn’t blackballed from the NFL, although likely silently behind the scenes to avoid a lawsuit. The NFL is probably the third most venal major entity in sports (behind FIFA and the IOC), but I don’t think they’ll take any risk on this guy.Y'all can take him in the NFL if ya want... The Commissioner will protect the shield. Right now, there's nobody looking out for CFB or college athletics in general.
So Browns?Re: the commissioner protecting the shield, I’d be astounded if Sorsby isn’t blackballed from the NFL, although likely silently behind the scenes to avoid a lawsuit. This is 100% my guess, as well. I'm not sure that it will be explicit, but there's clearly a few spots that _could_ make sense. I'm wondering if Goodell doesn't quietly pick up the phone and have an off-the-record conversation with teams' ownership on this point.Re: the commissioner protecting the shield, I’d be astounded if Sorsby isn’t blackballed from the NFL, although likely silently behind the scenes to avoid a lawsuit. Just sayin': I'd be totally shocked if the Juggalos actually self reported any NCAA violations here.I personally would like to know what exactly the Cincinnati athletic department knew about Sorsby’s gambling and when they knew it. I’m not one to shit on my alma mater, but I don’t think they should get a pass just because he entered the portal before the story broke. I hope President Neville Pinto is looking into this behind the scenes, but I‘m guessing he plans to let that sleeping dog lie.

Candidly, for everyone involved -- and that includes US as fans of CFB -- the fact that Sorsby is going into the supplemental is a very good thing. We do not want this blight in CFB. Y'all can take him in the NFL if ya want... The Commissioner will protect the shield. Right now, there's nobody looking out for CFB or college athletics in general.
Not sure why any institution would.Just sayin': I'd be totally shocked if the Juggalos actually self reported any NCAA violations here.

He's not a good enough player to take a risk on.Re: the commissioner protecting the shield, I’d be astounded if Sorsby isn’t blackballed from the NFL, although likely silently behind the scenes to avoid a lawsuit. Athletic Director Cunningham: "Yes, sir. And... we'll interface with the NCAA on this, uh, gambling issue."Not sure why any institution would.
No one EVER gets over “gambling addiction.”I am sure he will be drafted in the 3rd or 4th round. Whatever team drafts him will tell his agent he needs to assign a baby sitter to make sure he is not gambling.
CFB or in the NFL for that matter.I feel like CFB is better served by anything that speeds up the inevitable "next" phase, to mean post NCAA so in a longer game kind of way I kind of wish TT would have gone all the way.
I have zero worries that this guy would be throwing games or shaving points with the microscope he'd be under.
I disagree. I know someone who has. Although you can say his was an unconventional version of it. He was in finance and gambled through his by impulsively "betting" on the riskiest investments. He realized that the way he operated at work was the same way a guy at the race track would bet on horses and got help at a gambling anonymous group. Basically, he said that he had no motivation to work unless the threat of losing everything was always lingering in the background, but now he no longer works in that manner and has secure investments set up for the rest of his life while still being motivated to work without unnecessary reckless risk. He also said he has been able to settle down, marry and have children since working on his gambling impulses because before he did he could never get married because he was always worried in the back of his mind that "he could do better" so he couldn't commit. I thinkgetting help, which led to him having a family, has helped him with his gambling impulses. No o e EVER gets over “gambling addiction.”
