Texas Longhorns (big hat, no cattle; please don’t Horns Down us)

Wondering how much a 14-7 win over these guys will be worth by year end.

Huge week 1 matchups are fun, but its hard to take much from them when it gets to November. The most important thing is that it can’t be held against OSU. Everything else is gravy.

IMO, the main benefit of that game was playing a top 5 defense with top 5 talent. The title run happened for many reasons, but competing against the best throughout the regular season prepared them for everything.

Do you ever SEC spin bro? By November that will be a bad win for Ohio State. Some SEC contender will beat the Horns by a bigger margin, ergo they will then in SEC speak be better than the Buckeyes!

They get beat in a letdown spot at Mississippi State and then it's "OSU would just be a middle of the pack SEC team"

Doesn't matter. Day himself said they could have opened it up more if they had to. Already winning by 2 tds late in the 4th. Gave up a garbage time score and turtled up to run out the clock. OSU was clearly the superior team, and would have scored more if they didn't start from inside the 10 yard line like 4 times.

If Texas doesn't make the playoffs I won't care, probably the best defense in the country besides ours, and no other is nearly as good with the exception of maybe LSU and PSU. So not having to face them again wouldn't be a bad thing in my view.

It matters when the SEC spinsters marginalize OSU and the B1G 10. Impacts poll rankings, seeding and whether other B1G teams make the playoffs. Recruiting and even donations can be impacted.
