Ah... glorious morning here in Austin.... in my 20 minute commute (ten minutes of air time). They had 10 callers/voicemails calling for Mack to be fired, also talking about Golden Boy Applewhite not being able to coach his way out of a paper bag.... but the greatest was this caller
Caller:
I'm a SCUM grad and the name Gerg Robinson leaves a bad taste in my mouth
Tejas Mouthpiece Chip Brown
Well, he coached up at SCUM with Rich Rod, and that was just a dumpster fire, and he was working undermanned up there, and I know his head coaching career was a dumpster fire, but hey back in 04 we had a pretty decent year that year with the defense.

If Mack Brown is looking for a fix to his defense and a return to 2004-level performance, he'd be better off bringing back Derrick Johnson, Michael Huff, Michael Griffin, Aaron Ross, Tim Crowder, Rodrique Wright, Cedric Griffin, etc etc than Gerg. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I seem to recall UT fans celebrating Syracuse hiring Gerg away which cleared the way for them to land Chizik. That 2004 defense was good, but not as dominant as it perhaps should have been in hindsight given the talent they had on the roster on both sides of the ball in the VY era.

Before lobbying for the Rose Bowl over Cal and beating Michigan, Mack Brown and the two Gregs weren't all that popular despite the recruiting national championships.
