I recently won the lottery for a Texas Game ticket. Anyone interested in carpool, share hotel stay? Please PM me for detailed contact info.

Go Bucks and beat Texas.

Carpool would definitely relieve the tension of a long drive. However, My main movivation for this is to save money, since I am still a poor student. Wherein comes my interest in room sharing. I am a decent guy, easy to get along with. I don't plan on bringing too much money, just my buckeye beads, and a change of clothes.

We can plan to leave on Thursday night or Friday morning. In the former case, we must plan on staying two nights (Friday,Saturday) and in the latter case, only on Saturday. It takes 24 hours to get there for a total of over 1200 miles. I think we save more money if we rent a car (4 people, 30 miles/gallon) than a suv (6 people, 20 miles/gallon), but that is debatable.

Then we can start on Sunday to drive back. We'll be bak around Monday mid-day and I'll hope my boss doesn't fire me for being late .

Hertz rental would be pretty cheap, combined with 24 hours of driving by 4 people (or 6 if SUV is preffered) would yield a total driving time of 6 hours (or 4 hours). Or if one of you guys preffer, we can take your car. (Mine won't make it past Indianapolis ).

Of course, I am open to suggestions.

That drive can be made in 18 hours if you limit the stops. I am from Waco, 90 minutes north of Austin, and have made the drive from Waco to Columbus many times. Left Cbus at 5:30 in the afternoon, and was in Waco by 7:30 am the next morning. It is a long drive to do, but if you split up drivers, it won't be bad at all. I did the full drive myself just fine.

I actually just won a ticket too, but already had plane reservations to Waco on the 6th. Good luck on finding some guys to carpool. PM me and let me know what you are doing that Friday and Saturday. My boy and I already have hotel reservations in Austin that weekend. My mother actually had the hindsight to make them after last year's game and we have a hotel right downtown.

I'm taking Amtrak to the game in Austin. My roomie and I were planning on driving but we calculated it out, and Amtrak is actually cheaper than driving. We calculated Amtrak's price of $306 dollars against the cost of fuel, and the fact that you would need to overnight somewhere. It's actually cheaper to go Amtrak. Also consider you can use your cell on the train, and you can get wasted on the train too. It's a better idea. There is a train that leaves from Cincy on the 6th and gets in on Friday the 8th I think in late evening. I'm going on the 4th and getting in on the 6th so I can take in Texas High School Football on Friday. Trust me, if you're going to take the time to drive, just go Amtrak.

Thats a great idea in this day an age people seem to forget about trains.

If you can afford to spend $306 for Amtrak, you could also look into getting an air ticket. I got my flight ticket today from American Airlines and the ticket was $347.00 ($306 + taxes). Its a 1-stop flight from Columbus to Austin..Leaving on Sept 8 and coming back on 11. Also tickets were available for $296 (before taxes) for Sep9 to September 11th. It was much more expensive getting a flight back on Sep10.
