Game Thread Texas at tOSU, Sat. Aug. 30th, TBA

Forecasting the Kickoff Times and TV Networks for All 12 of Ohio State’s Regular-Season Games

Now that the game is confirmed to be on FOX, however, making Ohio State vs. Texas a night game would require both contractual rearrangements and a deviation from FOX's strategy of airing its top game at noon each Saturday. Given that the other marquee games of Week 1 (Alabama at Florida State, LSU at Clemson) have already been scheduled for 3:30 and 7:30 p.m., respectively, a noon start to the season remains the most likely outcome despite Buckeye fans’ chagrin.

I think it's a silly thing to get upset about. Ohio State could be on at 3AM and I'd find a way to watch the game. I see dipshits over on 11W and on the twitters being simpletons and saying Ohio State should go independent because of TV time slots

That's not going to happen so long as the checks clear. There's zero reason to be bitching about this in May or June or October. It's not going to change.

We get, at most, 16 games in a season. Enjoy it because it goes wayyyyyy too fast.

Tbh, it does seem absurd to have this game be at noon. Needs to be an afternoon or night game, especially when it is a playoffs semifinal rematch. I would have much preferred afternoon or night game but I have learned to let go of the things beyond my control. My biggest gripe is it is going to be HOT at noon in Austin that time of year. I'm sure the S&C staff is preparing the players for it, but having been to a couple games in Austin that time of year, walking up and down the stadium stairs about killed me and I am in my 30s.

I say this though, I will be up early getting ready to go to the game watch with my dad. Just seems like this game should be an evening or night game.

You know it’s C-Bus this year and Austin in 2026, right?
I somehow completely missed that, thanks for pointing that out...might need to read thread titles better. Might have to head out to Cbus for it then. I guess all of my last post is pretty much irrelevant, excepting only that I would have preferred a later game regardless when its at home. It will still be pretty hot and humid in Ohio at that time.

We really need Bjork & co to throw their weight around this offseason regarding this issue in particular...

Pretty sure Bjork said he would be having conversations about it, so hopefully something gets done.
He knows that saying that is meaningless symbolism for the fans to hang onto. Literally nothing is going to change that until the contract is over.

Edit to add: Noon isn't that bad. People find the weirdest shit to get upset about in this fanbase.

Respectfully, I think you're wrong. And it's not even about personal preference to me. Fox continuously puts us at a competitive disadvantage and eliminates our home field advantage by shoving noon kickoffs down our throats. Meanwhile, when we go to Texas in 2026, you can guarantee it will be an 8pm kick and an absolutely crazy atmosphere. Simply put, this is just unfair.

Do you go to many games? Because I do. And the atmosphere for noon games is generally garbage, with the Michigan game being the exception. And the fanbase cannot be expected to treat every single home game like it's the Michigan game. So what you end up with is a dead crowd at 99% of the noon games and it just sucks.

I was at the Oregon game in 2021. The first home game in The Shoe in over a year. Top 10 matchup. And it was absolutely fucking dead in there from the jump. And it remained dead during the entire game. It sucked. I've literally been in better atmospheres against MAC schools that kicked off later in the day.

I can already hear the argument "well this is an OSU fanbase problem!" no, it isn't. No other fanbase in sports has had to deal with shit like this. Having 80% of your games being kicked off at noon is just asinine - no fanbase in sports is going wild at noon every single weekend in the Fall. It just isn't realistic. NOW - if this was back in the day, you know, when kickoff times were normal and you only had a couple noon games per year? Yeah, it was a non issue. Getting up for a noon game once or twice a year isn't a big deal. Getting up for a noon game every Saturday for 3 months straight is absurd, and again, no other fanbase in sports has ever had to deal with some shit like this.

Then have OSU return the huge check.

First world problems.
