Game Thread Texas at tOSU, Sat. Aug. 30th, noon ET on FOX

Yeah the tweet and article was pretty poorly worded.

But yeah Texas' likely excuse is they don't want to be on a "short" week, or whatever. Which is probably how/why they got to have a say in this, I would imagine something like that would have had to be agreed on when they scheduled the home & home years ago.

This is...interesting. Not sure why the hell Texas would have any say here?

If the game does get moved, the FOX lackey's in here are gonna be in shambles :slappy:

I haven’t really been part of this discussion, but it seems to me that it’s been a disagreement between people unhappy with the number of noon kickoffs and people who are unbothered by it. From my perspective, calling them Fox lackeys is intellectually dishonest at best
Agreed. There are some here who want it moved to a later time, and others who say that the complaints aren't going to be heard by anyone who cares. I don't know of any "lackeys".
I also don't know of anyone who would be in "shambles" if it gets moved.
Also also, I'm not sure why Texas would have any say. Also also also, I don't know why Ohio State would have any say.
Whatever...

Cannot argue with Texas. Am certain most of America scouted tOSU v Tennessee playoff game. What raucous stadium. Still gives me chills just thinking about all the hoopla there. And then the score.....No wonder Texas wants zero part in that. But on the other foot, seems like they're gonna have same kind of set-up when the Buckeyes visit Austin the next year...

Meh. Noon 7PM or midnight, just play the fucking game.

While I agree with those who would say that later starts are better for tailgaters and on-campus recruiting (due to Friday night HS football), as someone who lives in Colorado and is enough of an in-game psychopath to prefer to watch the games by myself at home rather than having to self-censor or embarrass myself in public, I love the noon (10:00 AM here) games. I get up, exercise (if I'm reasonably motivated), tune in, and have the rest of my day free by 2:00 or so. As far as competitive advantage or disadvantage goes, without looking it up, I don't know that OSU has an especially great record in home night games against decent opponents.

Logistics aside, I just love a night game against a big opponent, whether in the Shoe or not. Or afternoon when it is getting dark in the 2nd half. Part of that is I am not a morning person at all and I like to watch the other games before ours comes on, or do something else with friends until it gets closer to starting. But biggest thing is the game just looks cooler under the lights an the crowd is typically louder.

Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte Had No Interest in Moving Ohio State vs. Texas to Sunday: “I’ve Got to Go to Church”

"Why would I want to move the game to Sunday night and have a short week?" Del Conte asked. "I've got to go to church."

"We would rather play at noon so Ohio State has less of a home field advantage"
