Has there ever been a coach in the NFL that has been named "interim" coach more than Wade Phillips?

Teams cut players after injuries all of the time. It's not like he needed the insurance or something. I assume he was getting paid several million dollars.

Plus they were considered by many to be an underachieving team when they were mostly winning. Start losing with mostly the same group of players - that's a recipe for somebody getting fired.

They lost several games before AND after his stroke - eleven in a row. Anyone genuinely concerned for his well being should be glad he can just focus on his health, now. It's not like he's going to have to worry about money.
