TenneCheat VolunTears (official thread)

He only got them into the playoffs because they expanded the field.

They would’ve been in the playoffs with Hendon hooker if there were 12 teams that year. If it was still a 4 team field they would’ve not made it.

He kind of blows and they made it because of their defense and in spite of nico
They had a defense?

Why didn’t they bring that to “Neyland North”?

I mean we took a career 60% QB to the career accuracy leader in OSU history. Give me Ryan Day over anyone in regard to elevating a QB.
I completely agree, Day is the best QB developer HC currently coaching in the NCAA.

I still maintain that he'd be better served developing a QB that doesn't suck instead of Nico.

I rewatched the game at Neyland North last night. Some of the best sad panda shots ever. Sone of them filed out of the stadium at 21-0, some at 28-3. Some just stood there in disbelief for the whole game. It was glorious knowing that they were also miserable from the 14 degree wind chill.
I re-watched it this morning. For accuracy’s sake (and for us pedants), the score never got to 28-3. It was 21-0, then 21-10 at the half, then 42-10 before the garbage TD made the final 42-17.

Right

And while I don't doubt that Day could elevate Nico, I also would trust him more than anyone in evaluating QBs, not just elevating them.

So if he pursues Nico, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Somehow I doubt that he will. He always talks about "fit" being the most important thing.

Wow.

I know the look would be bad for the individual player but just wait until the holdout(s) before a playoff game….

The half-in/half-out measures from the sport’s leadership needs to stop. Make these guys pro and get some contract rules in place.
I cannot take CFB seriously until there is some sort of regulation put in place with NIL & the transfer portal. Right now, there are no rules or guardrails and it's mucking everything up. Remember when you couldn't criticize CFB players because they were just "college kids?" Yeah, those days are over. These guys are contractors now without actual enforceable contracts. Fuck them kids.

Well, anyone still wanna argue CFB isn't NFL-lite?
When was that EVER an argument?

Dude, CFB has ALWAYS been this way! Its just now the numbers are out in the open. Do you really think that many players wanted by choice to just play for a team in Tuscaloosa, AL!?! An amazing education isn't luring kids to Norman, OK or Eugene, OR. You can't think top 10 out of state players just had so much love for OSU. Money has ALWAYS been in play. And the fact that it was done in the shadows and can't be 100% proven was the goal. These kids deserve every dime they get and then some! If we ever thought these were truly student athletes then they wouldn't be playing in 60-100k coliseums, with every amenity known to man kind. Even before NIL, these kids played in better environments than some of their NFL counterparts. A guy like Joe Burrow is playing in front of less people now than when he was in college. If you couldn't take college seriously now, then why would you have ever taken it seriously? These guys were always contractors, its just that fans were happy with being blissfully ignorant and acting like Player X signed with their school out of pure love and wanted an education from that institution  Its like people wanted to read the article about The Bagman and wanted to play sanctimonious like it wasn't ever going to be their program who paid for players, only those degenerates in the south :roll1:

Even in the established, collectively bargained pro sports a team is powerless when a player decides to hold out. The only lever they have is his money.
