TenneCheat VolunTears (official thread)

lol....in what way do we do what the SEC wants? Like, we win natty's that the SEC wanted to win?
"Ohio State does what the SEC wants?"
Like, does Ohio State do what the SEC wants to do? That seems to be what BN27 said.
Or, does Ohio State do what the SEC wants Ohio State to do? "You get your butts out there and beat 2 of our teams, plus the team that beat our 3rd team, and win that championship!" Is that what the SEC wants?

I've said it probably a quarter of infinity times: I just don't understand that mindset. "We didn't win the championship, so I'll root for one of our opponents." I remember about 2009-2012 - Alabama won 3 championships and Auburn won 1. And fans were calling into the national radio shows bragging about how the state of Alabama won 4 straight championships. Or.. 2006 through 2012 - "The SEC won 7 straight championships!!!" While you and I laugh about how the SEC has now gone 2 years without a team in the championship game, I will never brag about how the Big Ten has won 2 straight. And it isn't so much a *ichigan thing (though a little of it is), because I wouldn't talk about Big Ten teams winning the championship if 2023 was Penn State or Illinois or Minnesota or anyone else. It's Ohio State or no one, for me. If Ohio State loses a playoff game, I MIGHT root for another big ten team in the championship game. But I might not. This "conference pride" stuff - that sounds like something Penn State fans would cry about.

Not entirely certain where this SEC dictates tOSU path is all about. Please give an instance or three. And yeah, if tOSU is not involved, I'll most likely root for a B10 team, as long as not named for a state shaped like a mitten. Might get up and walk around outside during the game, but still hope 'our' teams beat 'their' teams. One wants to negotiate from a position of strength, and right now, appears the mindset is that B10 is a smidge more powerful than the SEC, if not throughout the line-up, but at least the top several teams.

I'll never get this rooting interest in a conference. I root and care about 1 team. I think the B1G and SEC convo is entertaining and at times comical, but I could care less if every team in the B1G loses all of their games. I only care that OSU wins. I'm not going to give any interest to Minny playing Ole Miss, or the results of Illinois against UK. And I'd honestly give a side eye to a Purdue, IU, UCLA, etc fan who wants to give a high 5 when OSU wins a big game. We're not together in this, to me, you wear Scarlet and Gray, anyone wearing that and rooting for the Bucks is part of my tribe. Making this a B1G vs SEC battle is just foolish to me.

I'm pretty sure it's .... Ohio against the World.

Fuck everyone else.

If conference doesn't matter, then why do we have a thread, "It Just Means More?" Why are you on this thread worrying about yahoos from Nashville and Knoxville?

The strength of any conference does matter. It's why there are threads pissing and moaning about the chance that the ACC champion with 1 loss might get a better playoff slot than a 1 loss Buckeye team.

I don't root for other Big Ten teams before I root for the Buckeyes, but I want to see the conference as being better than the others. I don't want to be the guy who chants "Big Ten!" while Illinois beats Wake Forest (I also don't want to be Big Nut or the other doofuss in the cape and cowboy hat). But I do want to see conference strength helping the Buckeyes in the polls and in playoff seeding.

Gotcha. So you were happy about the 2024 NCs. Got it. Would you like for scUM to have no punishment so they can have great results on the field and have that B1G pride? Like @zbsaid, It's OHio against the world! Not B1G against the world. I'd be fine with the B1G getting only 1 conference win in the bowls and playoffs and that win being OSU

And im on this thread to ridicule and mock those douche nuggets inbreds in Knoxville. Im on the SEC, It means more thread, to ridicule and mock those douche nugget inbred from the rest of the SEC schools. Im a simple man, and to quote the scholar @zbuck F everyone else

You and I seem to agree. I am a fan of Ohio State, not the B1G. I dont give a good goddamn how Iowa does in a bowl game. If they get smoked by LSU or beat them, I give no fucks.

Conferences matter to the extent that there is an invitation to the big table. Ohio State ain't in the MAC, nor will it be.

Thread for "it just means more" is making fun of the SEC, isn't it? I like to make fun of fans of SEC teams because they think differently from the way I do.
I'm in this thread to make fun of Tennessee fans because they think differently from the way I do. And therefore, they're wrong.
Sure strength of conference matters. But that doesn't mean I want to root for Iowa to beat anyone. That said, I do tend to prefer Big Ten teams over other teams. Before and after Purdue had Danny Hope, I've liked Purdue. I liked Sparty when Dantonio was there. I liked Northwestern when that one guy was there - I forget his name. Even when Randy Walker was there. But I won't cheer for "Big Ten!!!" And there are probably instances where I'll root for an SEC team over a Big Ten team.

If I’m going to watch a game I have to have a team I like, or at least like better than the other team. Browns, packers, 49ers, over Cowboys, Raiders, Buccaneers. Tribe, Phillies, Orioles, Giants, over Yankees and Dodgers.. Don’t watch very much NBA, but I do like the Thunder and Pacers over the Lakers and Knicks.

in college I skip around. Any Big Ten team over any ACC, SEC, or ND. Tend toward dogs in Big Ten comp, so consistently pulling for IU and Northwestern. I need a villain to keep me interested.
