Lane Kiffin reflects on his Tennessee days, leaving Knoxville

Kiffin ended up on camera, spending roughly 60 seconds expressing gratitude for the 14 months he spent in charge of the Tennessee program.

Outside the press conference, Tennessee students rioted on Johnny Majors Drive, between the Neyland-Thompson Sports Center and Stokely Athletic Center. At one point a mattress was burned in the street.

“That was crazy,” Kiffin said. “I felt like I was in one of those movies where you’re bunkered down somewhere. Trying to hide. There are fires outside. How are we going to get out of this place?”

The FAU gig is just a stepping stone to a better position. I'm guessing that Lane Kiffin would now like the Tennessee job and he would accept it at a discount rate....:slappy:

Re: Brady Hoke will serve as interim coach remainder of the season.

Hoke at scUM: 31-20
Jones at Tennessee: 34-27

What value does Hoke bring to the table here? Why not just let Jones complete the season?

Re: Jones' contract runs through March 2021, and per the terms of his buyout, is owed $2.5 million times the number of years remaining on his deal, meaning his buyout would be somewhere in the $8 million range. That buyout would be mitigated by whatever salary he earns in a new coaching job. Jones was making $4.11 million per year at Tennessee.

Butch is only 49, but I can't see any major school hiring him as head coach. Maybe he could get a job as OC somewhere and/or a MAC school might hire him. I see him gettong a "talking hed" job on a sports network, i.e. Mack Brown on ESPN. Ther SEC Network is probably hiring, etc. Regardless he is set financially through 2021 (i.e. actually if he invests wisely, with $8M he is set for life)
