A site that ties to sell adware cleaners is now hooked onto my
internet explorer and specifically yahoo.com. Any time I try to go to Yahoo, it gets re-directed to this site. Not just my explorer, but anytime I'm somewhere else and type in Yahoo.com, it redirects me to that site.

I've run Ad-aware and virus scan but it's still there. Anyone have any ideas how I can get rid of that re-direct? Thanks.

Also, is there an easy way to get rid of all pop ups? I have pop up blockers but they don't get alot of them.

clear you internet cache ("temporary internet files")
run ad-aware/spybot in windows safe mode

for killing all pop ups - switch to a different browser, Firefox or Slimbrowser are my two suggestions.

If you have spyware on the machine, the popups are probably coming from your machine, not the web.......so a popup blocker would do nothing. The popup blocker in IE does just fine, as I never get popups.

Run spybot, and even spysweeper (which can be a pain in the ball, because spysweeper isnt free anymore, but still does a damn good job).

Open up the following file in notepad:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

(yes, there's no extension on the file)

If you see any line mentioning yahoo.com, remove that line.

Try Ewido Anti-malware if these other suggestions don't work (they should/could work, but you never know). As far as I know Ewido is the best out there that you can still use for free.

Try CCleaner, free download and the faster ad-aware/temp internet folder cleaner out there. Most of the professional IT guys out there use this, it was recommended to me by some guys at PC Oncall.
