TE Ryan Hamby (Official Thread)

Good for Hambone. I think it is great he will be able to go out playing in his last game as a buckeye.

Hopefully, Hamby AND Brandon will play. Both these guys have earned (if healthy) the RIGHT to play in this game, regardless of what "fans" think.
It sickens me to think that anyone that considers themselves buckeyes would want to see anything less than Schnitt running in the score to put us down one, then Hamby catching the two-point conversion.

I respect the opinions expressed otherwise here but I think it is up to Coach Tressel to decide the best team to put on the field. Notre Dame may be in Indiana but its not Indiana!

I wonder if any player, even Archie Griffin in his day, deserves to play if someone else on the team has demonstrated that he can do the job better? Isn't it true that every player that wears the Scarlet and Gray made a conscious decision to come to Ohio State to play, sweated their guts out on the practice field to get that chance, and then hoped to get on that field to represent Ohio State? And if we agree with these senitments, how can any player be more deserving than another?

Let's be happy that Hamby and Schnittker are healthy and available for selection. They are both real Buckeyes. Schnittker, in particular, has been a real example to the team for his academic achievements.

I hope that both players do get to play in the Fiesta Bowl, provided that is what Coach Tressel thinks is best for the team:osu: .

No more than I wanted Lydell Ross on the field (ever). If the underclassmen are better (and god knows they are in this case), then by all means play them.
I disagree. For the senior class, the ND game will be last time any of them will ever wear a Buckeye uniform again, and after what they've been through, god knows they deserve to go out in style. I'm all for giving the young guys some playing time, but not over a senior (that normally starts) in his last game with Ohio State. Most of them have dreamt about playing in the scarlet and grey all of their lives, and they love Buckeye football just as much as any of us do.

And in case you don't remember, Ross averaged 8.3 YPC in the game against Okie State.

Although I like Frost, Hamby is a very good TE as well...may not be as speedy or as elusive, but he is an excellent blocker and has great hands, and generally, can be relied on in the clutch...if he is healthy and in game shape, I'm sure he'll see the field

ntd, before this season, I would agree with you - but after key mistakes this year (blocking - got burned by Hali leading to Smith's fumble @ PSU / hands and clutch play - the dropped pass against TX) I think Frost has shown he is the better player.
I sure hope Hamby plays, even starts, but I would also hope that Frost gets more snaps because right now he is the better TE.

I hope Brandon and Ryan both play and contribute in the game because it is their last and they both have worked their arse off. Tressel honors the seniors and I respect that. If you are the head coach you have to win games. But you always have to respect your players and it really doesn't matter who the fans think should start. The coach knows his players and we as fans have to respect that call. Hamby hasn't had a good season statistically or emotionaly. I couldn't imagine the desire he has to be great and then get death threats from hundreds of fans and booed on the field. Here's to a big game for Hamby and Scnitt-kicker and a Buckeye beat down.
