2026 Ohio Tight End Nick Lautar Flips Commitment from Louisville to Ohio State
Ohio State adds an in-state tight end to its 2026 recruiting class as Lebanon’s Nick Lautar flips his commitment from Louisville to the Buckeyes.
A fluid pass-catcher who shows good route-running ability for a high school tight end and the receiving skill to make tough catches in traffic, Lautar caught 38 passes for 511 yards and eight touchdowns in his senior season at Lebanon. He’s also a strong blocker who’s often seen knocking defenders into the dirt when the ball isn’t coming his way.

Yep. Monster. Like Birm said, in the last 10 years he's probably the biggest surprise player they've brought in with what they thought they were getting and what they actually got. Kid just works his butt off. He's going to be so good

Depth Chart Outlook
Even after losing NFL draft picks Max Klare and Will Kacmarek, Ohio State's tight end room is quite stacked in 2026. It’s led by Nate Roberts, Mason Williams, Hunter Welcing and Bennett Christian and also includes redshirt sophomore Max LeBlanc and redshirt freshman Brody Lennon.With that, Lautar will spend his first year as a Buckeye developing behind the scenes. If he can show plenty of promise and development as a freshman, though, Lautar could very well compete for a spot on the three-deep in 2027.
