Nic, you did the right thing. You protected yourself and got the offer you always wanted. You have great support here. Fool them all now - have a better career than Rudolph, Koger, Moore, and Ayles. Show 'em what you are made of. JT now owes you. He'll make it up to you. Maybe you'll do a few less gassers than the rest. Have a great Buckeye career!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't bet on that...

DiLillo will go to Ohio State

Thursday, August 02, 2007

From staff reports
Madison senior Nic DiLillo was sitting along the third-base line at an Indians game last week when he received a text message from Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel with a scholarship offer. DiLillo thought one of his friends was pulling a gag and responded with a message saying he was a little busy.
Then, DiLillo recognized the 614 area code for Columbus.
"I thought, Holy smokes,' " DiLillo said. "I called him as soon as I got to my car. He said, Hear me out,' and offered me. My buddies and I were all jumping up and down going crazy."

...My understanding is that the staff is trying not to make that mistake again, which is why they were adamant that both Ballard and Miller would remain at TE. Every time we recruit a 250+ lbs TE everyone assume it is because they are going to slide down to tackle. That worked for Barton, but does not work for most. Probably also why you see most people saying that Stoney is a WR in this class and DiLillo is the only true TE.
...and a good argument can be made that Barton never was a TE that might "slide down." Barton played TE in a classic wing T offense which, in effect, made him an OT. He RARELY went out for a pass. He was recruited from the beginning as an OT candidate, not as a TE.

He is currently 225 lbs...from his own mouth.

I talked to Coach Willis twice this week. Once at a coaches' meeting at Mentor High School and once scouting a scrimmage. I'll stand by my statement.

Adding 11 lbs. since last Saturday is pretty impressive.
