TE Jeremy Ruckert (New York Jets)

Meatchicken will be the main competition for Ruckert. Heck, Butts had a great career there, and unless tOSU actually throws to Baugh, I'd go to the School up North too. If I wanted to showcase catching ability as well as blocking. This year, mayhaps we make our TE an actual option over the middle, in the flat, etc. and that would show all the doubters that tOSU indeed uses their tight end as a receiver (which is sexy), rather than merely as another blocking lineman. Throw the ball, and GO BUCKS!

Funny thing is, he still can go to OSU, catch a marginal amount of balls, and because NFL coaches know of the elite talent at OSU could still pick up Rickert if he's good enough. Look at Heurman and Vannett, both had underwhelming statistics at OSU but went high enough in their drafts to make NFL rosters and I believe both are in 2 deeps on their respective rosters. Both were prepared to block AND catch in NFL systems

The NFL would agree with you. Heuerman was selected 92nd (though he put up some numbers in college) and Vannett was selected 94th after basically blocking as a starter. Both third rounders. Butt with all of his hype and production was 145 in round 5. If go with OSU. The NFL scouts are trying to tell us something.

Butt had a pretty bad injury, if it wasn't for that he was probably going in the 2nd round at worst.
NFL coaches though trust Urbans talent for the most part and you can see kids do as well

I can certainly see the appeal of going to tsun if you're just looking at the offenses and TE production. Heuerman did have a very good year in 2013 though, before getting dinged and not being 100% in 2014.

But I'd hope he's also look at the offensive changes made since last year and the general success of the program over putting up greater stats. Besides, even in an extremely inconsistent passing game, Baugh still put up 260 yards with what, like 10 drops? Not great but I always feel like people overestimate average TE stats in college.

That would be me, 1926. Back in the day, played TE, and spent most of my time pinching the tackle. Don't believe I said he should/would go to the Wolverweenies, but having the top TE in college (usually based on pass catching, not blocking?) has a certain cachet to it. I would love, and also believe Buckeye Nation has wanted an active TE slipping into the seams for a 30 yard catch and run for many a moon. That kinda play is a downer for the defense anytime it happens. TampaBuck refuted my logic based upon his research of the NFL drafts quoted. Fair enough. Playing along the loaded Buckeyes will certainly catch many a pro scout eye, AND hope Ruckert dons the Scarlet & Gray soon. Go Bucks
