TE Jeremy Ruckert (New York Jets)

Yeah, silly thing to say. But he's young and my impression is he was trying to say something good- as in, OSU has dominated this thing for well over a decade, and that's fact. He'll realize that you can't have that attitude, though. No harm.

He's actually correct...it isn't a rivalry. It is The Rivalry.

He isn't an Ohio kid so I can understand the lack of awareness on his part (no special powers and all). He'll learn soon enough.

Ruckert played well in the Polynesian Bowl yesterday:

The No. 1 tight end in the nation did not disappoint. Ruckert, an Ohio State signee from Lindenhurst, N.Y., had a game-high four receptions for 57 yards. He was a headache for linebackers, who were helpless trying to stay with him over the middle of the field. Ruckert is a dynamic weapon that can line up on the line, in the slot or out wide, and he's tremendously fluid as a route runner. He's got star written all over him and appears primed to leave his mark with the Buckeyes.

JEREMY RUCKERT POISED FOR BREAKOUT FRESHMAN CAMPAIGN

93410_h.jpg

J.K. Dobbins' explosion onto the college football scene in 2017 was a phenomenon that only a few saw coming. After Mike Weber’s explosive freshman season, not many saw someone taking carries, especially 194, away from the Detroit native.

However, with Weber hampered with a hamstring injury, Dobbins got the start in the season opener and rushed for a freshman record 181 yards in a 49-21 win over the Hoosiers. He finished with 1,403 yards on the ground for the season, and was named MVP of the Big Ten title game.

While it is unlikely a Buckeye rookie is able to replicate the same success in 2018, there is one particular offensive player that could find the end zone more than his upper classmen counterparts.

Jeremy Ruckert comes to OSU as one of the most highly recruited tight ends in program history, and with Ohio State's lack of production at the TE position in the past, could be poised for a breakout year.

Ruckert projects as a flex tight end, meaning he can split out as an outside wide receiver from time-to-time because of his athleticism.

With Ohio State's lack of production at wide receiver in recent years, first year starter Dwayne Haskins will be looking for a sure fire go-to receiver as he takes the reins of the Buckeye offense. Ruckert likely isn't that guy, but because Ohio State has had limited success in the passing game with tight ends in the past, the expectations are low enough that Ruckert could surprise some people come fall.

If Haskins is able to stretch the field beyond what we have seen the past few years - and there is no reason to believe he wont...
If only one or two of the talented wide receivers achieve their potential - and there is no reason to believe they wont...
If the two headed beast at RB can continue to dominate - and there is no reason to believe it wont...
If an OL that may be as deep and talented as any we have had in the Meyer era can do its job - and you would be foolish to believe it wont...

This will be one hell of an offense.

Add a TE who is a match-up nightmare for opposing defenses and Wow! Just friggin' Wow!!

Eight members of Ohio State's vaunted 2018 class, the Supreme 18, early enrolled back in January.

The rest of the reinforcements started arriving in Columbus Saturday with four-star defensive end Tyreke Smith, four-star safety Josh Proctor, and four-star linebacker K'Vaughan Pope marking the first wave of summer enrollees.

JEREMY RUCKERT, JOSH PROCTOR LEAD NEW ARRIVALS EXPECTED TO PLAY MEANINGFUL SNAPS THIS SEASON

Ohio State's 2018 recruiting class is now fully on campus and ready to make some noise.

The Buckeyes 2018 recruiting class was another elite one pulled in by Urban Meyer. Featuring three five-stars and a whopping 13 top-100 ranked players, the class finished #2 in the 247sports composite rankings, trailing only Georgia.

Of course, a class filled with that much talent is expected to have some players who can contribute immediately. Here, we will take a look at a few players who enrolled this week that can step on the field and make a difference from game one.

JEREMY RUCKERT, TIGHT END

With the graduation of Marcus Baugh, the tight end spot at Ohio State is wide open. Rashod Berry is an athletic freak, but isn't exactly the most polished or "skilled" tight end, as he was only recently moved from the other side of the ball (he was brought up as a defensive end).

Ruckert, on the other hand, was ranked the #2 tight end prospect in last years class, out of Lindenhurst, New York, and is one of the most polished tight end prospects in Ohio State history. With 2016 signees Jake Hausmann and Luke Farrell failing to impress in their first two years in Columbus, Ruckert has the opportunity to slide right in as another weapon for new Ohio State gunslinger Dwayne Haskins.
