TE Jake Stoneburner (Official Thread)

Jake is the type that can play TE, or split our wide as a WR (where I would like to see him). He has the speed, and with the size of our expected class next year, maybe a TE isn't a huge need. So to bring in a guy like Jake (whom the coaches have discussed playing at WR) would be perfect.

Jake reminds me of a skinnier Dallas Clark for the Colts. He has the speed and athleticism to move out to the slot and work the seams, but he will also have the size to play next to a tackle and work the middle and out routes...

I agree that they coudl be used in the same mold but he has 2 inches on Dallas and is only a high school junior. 6'6'' or 6'7'' might not be out of the question and for a TE that would be great height to go up and get the ball.

Possibly...too early to tell right now though.

Straight 6 interview is on the front page

Well I just think that depending on how fast he is, that his speed as a TE with his size lining up against guys like LB's and S's he would present mismatches if he could throw on 30 lbs and become a good blocker as well.

It is usually easier to add the weight than try and just gain muscle and size instead of trying to gain muscle and size and keep the speed...Already 6'5'' 220 as a high school junior could very easily project to 6'6'' 260 after a redshirt year of college...

Well, he DID say he loves to eat....:wink2: i know it doesn't mean jack but it's worth the thought. i tend to agree with cb40, if this kid can add weight and not lose the speed and agility, he can be lethal at the tight end position.
