TCUN BMW Thread - New Visitors Check This Thread Out before Posting Elsewhere

OSU has only won titles when they weren't supposed to win.
1968
2002
2014

They have never gone through a year as the top team and ended it that way. Maybe too much pressure in Columbus. The started the year #5 in 2014 and dropped to #8 after week 1 win against Navy and then plummeted to #22 after losing to VT. Quite amazing that they actually ran the table. I went to the game against UC and if you told me I was watching the future national champs I would have laughed at you.
That 2014 team was special and we'll never see anything like that again. The resilience among that group was next-level.

I don't see how Day sticking his fingers in his ears and yelling lalalala to pretend there isn't heightened pressure around this game is going to help, but he's more than welcome to try it. If he's frightened of some red x's on signs or people not using their name, I can't imagine how that doesn't manifest itself during the game. The premise that he's putting too much pressure on himself is valid. The premise that the fans and tradition around the rivalry are somehow to blame is just dumb and out of his control anyway. Isn't one of his selling points supposed to be he prepares his players for the NFL? Think there isn't pressure there?
Ohio State is a pressure cooker. Always has been always will be. And there's never more pressure than Thanksgiving week. Even if the importance of the game is less now than it once was because of the 12 team playoff in the grand scheme, it will never lessen in the mind of tOSU fans. Maybe in 30-40 years as we start dying off and if newer fans adopt the way CFB is going pressure will lighten; but not anytime in the near future. I cannot look at a season as an abject success with an L next to tCUN on the schedule. Will never happen. Would a NC be nice? Hell yeah, but that L will cheapen it some in my eyes. For me, it's always been:

1) Beat tCun
2) Win the B1G
3) NC

That's the job. Some coaches are built to handle pressure, some are built to fold. From what I've seen so far, Ryan Day is the latter. Could that change? Sure, but I never bet against DNA.

We keep hoping for behavior that just isn’t there. All talk and then freezes up when things aren’t working out …

At this point we should boil it down to one goal.

Beat TCUN.

The other two are obvious and if we beat TCUN we will have the opportunity to win the big ten.

All we need to do is make Day watch the Back to the future trilogy before THE GAME. Marty can't back down when someone calls him "chicken", and it continually hurts his life. By the end of the 3rd movie his character has grown enough to get over this, and his life is great.
If Day can't get over the emotional baggage of being called "soft" we will never win THE GAME again, and we will never win a NC.
So, yes in my day to day life Ryan Day is referred to, by me, as Marty McFly.

He loved his dog man… anyone who loves their dog talks about them too much.
And I loved that his dog got to live the life he did. I love my dog so much and I don't care for much of Herbie's work as a commentator for a stretch in going overboard to appear unbiased, but a dog is man's best friend for a reason and it was legit sorrow unless he is the best actor in the universe.

With respect to this thread in general, can we move it to the capsule? We have UT to focus on and if I am like anyone else here, I am done dwelling on this game after the appropriate time to be pissed about it...at least for anyways.
