Syracuse men's basketball potential troubles

Why is it some schools are perpetually under investigation, but nothing ever happens? It didn't take this long to solve the Lindbergh kidnapping.

"The ongoing investigation has apparently grown larger in scope. When asked to characterize how wide-ranging the probe might be, a source with knowledge of the case told CBSSports.com: 'Throw a dart at the [NCAA] Manual [and you would hit a violation by Syracuse].'"

Any trouble would give Jim Boeheim a good reason to just walk away.

In terms of basketball, it was a running joke that the NCAA would never punish any basketball program (not coach) too bad, due to the NCAA Tournament and the revenue to the NCAA.

Per the NCAA website: "Investigators must be very thorough be mindful of the potential consequences of their investigations. For this reason, NCAA investigations can take weeks, months, or possibly years before they are seen all the way to conclusion."

In reality it is called "job security" for the guys doing the investigation. My guess is if you made as much as they do with their (probably unlimited) expense account you would string out the investigations as long as possible too.

Is a Career as an NCAA Investigator Right for You?

Administrative investigative careers are perfect for those with an inquisitive mind and a knack for analysis. If you love college sports and are excited at the prospect of helping to maintain the integrity of the institution, working as an NCAA investigator may be just the right career for you.

It sounds too good to be true, where do I apply?
