This game is as much about character and pride for this team as it is about anything. It is time for all of the players to step up and show that they understand what it means to be on an Ohio State football team. That certainly means making sure IU doesn't come into the Shoe and steal a game no matter how poorly the team is playing.

Not every kid gets the chance to play for tOSU that wants too and there are many reasons why. It is time for a majority of these players to show why they were offered the opportunity to play at OSU.

I think their game at Kentucky is telling of how a prepared team 'should' play Indiana. Following a huge win in Oregon they travel to Kentucky and get 560 yards hung on them by a team ranked right above us in total offense. Ohio State wins easily, which isn't necessarily a good thing either. Some out there will try to use this win as proof of Smith's superior QB play--that would be extremely misleading. If Zwick remains out for Penn St. we'll learn more about Troy.

That is a totally unfair position to take. If Smith struggles, well he must stink. If he playes extreamly well, then you give him no credit. Perhaps you should go back and revisit the IU stats and drive charts over the last couple of weeks.

IU took Northwestern to OT before losing and the very next week went into half time 7-14 against Michigan. They ran for 139 against Michigan as well. Hung 20 on MSU who just absolutely DESTROYED Minnesota.... Oh, and IU was up 20-7 at half time in that game.

Your position about IU is not very accurate IMHO. This is exactly the kind of team that has given OSU fits. This isnt going to be a blow out and if Smith shines it will be because he plays a great game. This is going to be a real test for the buckeyes. Indiana is better in every measurable offensive statistic than the buckeyes are currently.

This game should scare every buckeye fan and if it doesnt, you are in serious denial about how bad the OSU offense is right now. IMHO perhaps Troy Smith can provide a spark.... we will see on saturday.

If Smith lights the world up on Saturday trust me he'll start against Penn State just for that reason. Tressel would have no reason/excuse for putting the kid on the bench. Well thats of course if Zwick doesn't have an awesome practice week. (what a bunch of crap by the way). You have to believe if you're d1 and you've been said to be neck and neck that what you are doing in practice is just as good. Right now I'm worried about anyone playing our buckeyes. You have to believe that just about every team is die'n to play us right now. Tell you what dark ages are though. Look at Penn State then get back with me.
If we played PSU next week, my money would be on PSU.

Why would it be misleading? NW had a HORRIBLE pass defense, and Zwick couldn't light them up. I don't care how bad IU is, if Smith lights them up then I think he has to keep getting the start.

I dont think you have anything to worry about though, because the O-line will be itself, and neither QB will get things done.

Horrible is right! Northwesterns pass defense is ranked #112. Zwick could only manage 211 yards passing against a pass defense that is frankly one of the worst in the country. What is more disturbing is that Justin couldnt even complete 50% of his pass attempts going 18-38 with an interception.

I agree that Indiana isn't a pushover. That is probably why I suggested a prepared team "should" play them that way. I think if Smith does an excellent job he deserves credit for it and possibly a start against Penn State. Personally, I have lobbied for starting Smith over Zwick for weeks now. However, I don't think one game is the best determination of how good a player is. The jury is still out on Zwick for a lot of fans. He has had six games but the offense has been atrocious all around. I think the problems rest equally on the line, running game, and quarterback.

The main concern for OSU is if the Offensive line is FINALLY going to come out and knock the piss out of some of these Hoosiers and then build on that. Then worry about the QB saga. If that FINALLY does happen then OSU will be alright and have a chance against the remaining teams. One can only pray for that though.

When I see a picture of Bollman in the unemployment line then I will believe that the O-line will come out and knock the piss out of someone.

another reason to be a little bit nervous? with our insistence on running the ball, this was Michigan's stat line against Indiana, and we all know their running game is way ahead of ours right now: 39-93

on the flip side Indiana is more committed to running the ball than we are, running 62% of the time, and they're terrible averaging 2.97 ypc........their QB has 5 td's and 8 int's.......so we should have no problems shutting down their offense completely, even with the confidence we're losing in this defense.........the $64,000 question will we be able to put up some freaking points?
