tOSU would likely advance to the title game if the MSU-AA punter had simply fallen on the ball. But if you were able to choose, would you want pain and humiliation for MSU-AA fans or would you want tOSU to advance to the title game?
 
I am offended by people trying to smear something as beautiful, pure and good as The Punt with the libelous assertion that it was in any way shape or form a bad thing for OSU.

scUM losing is never bad for OSU.

scUM nation in once-in-a-lifetime kind of pain is never a bad thing for OSU.

OSU is not in the B1G CG because of OSU (and Sparty).

Fuck M*ch*gan, they had ZERO to do with it.

Having hindsight, of course we wish the punt hadn't happened because of where we'd be this weekend. But we don't have that luxury, so I love the surrender cobra and all that we lived through that fateful day.

I don't think that's the choice on offer. The choice is i) MSU rips UM's heart out, as they did, or ii) UM competently executes a punt to hold on against MSU, preventing MSU from winning the East. An OSU win over UM is given in both scenarios.

The benefit to michigan as a program (and recruiter) would be gigantic if the punt never happened. One late loss would sting but only to their egos, not their recruiting prowess and status as being back (mostly).

Preventing that severely outpaces the benefit for a very flawed Buckeye team to sneak into the playoffs. I'm still not sure they cured their woes, they just played a terrible rushing defense and executed their game plan better. I've been saying for ages that their lbs are terrible and after Glasgow and Mario went down, their dl was very suspect.


Maybe if osu hadn't won the best title in recent memory with the greatest coaching performance ever, I might feel differently. But that greatness still lingers enough to handle finishing second to Sparty. Part of me would like to see another team win it all for the sake of the league, and that would be unfathomable and unbearable for most Michigan fans.
