So, just for discussion, what do you guys think- out of 10 games between the teams, who wins? I have Seattle 7 out of 10 times.

I don't think Denver is as bad as they showed, as is just sometimes the case in these 1-game playoffs, but Seattle is clearly the better team- so a worthy champion this year, imo.

That defense...my kingdom...

I'm not sure what the fuck happened last night. Denver appeared shell shocked after the 1st quarter and never recovered. Manning felt pressure that didn't exist until late in the 1st half. Pass protection was shakey. Skill position players played like shit.

The running game was non-functioning.

I thought Welker would break the record for SuperBowl catches - right team, wrong player. Whatevs.

Don't think the Denver defense deserves much blame for this one. This was all on the offense. Turnovers left and right, and they gave Seattle good field position most of the game. There was a safety, returned INT for a TD and a kickoff returned for a TD. That's 16 points that the defense had literally nothing to do with. They actually held Lynch to 39 yards on 15 carries. Their defense wasn't great, but it doesn't deserve even a shred of blame for that loss. That was all on Peyton and the offense, and Seattle's D.

Joke of a game though. Worst case scenario for me. Fuck the Seahawks. I hope they lose every game for the rest of eternity. At the very least I hope Russell Wilson requests a trade so I can at least root for him. I know that's not going to happen.

Nobody should be naive enough to believe that Seattle can keep all of their current players, but they simply don't have to. Sidney Rice is likely gone, and I could see them restructuring Zach Miller's contract. There is going to be some money to play with. The core of this team is Russell Wilson, Earl Thomas, and Richard Sherman. None of those players are going anywhere. Chancellor is locked up for another three years I believe.

I just believe they will make it work. Seattle is becoming a very appealing destination for free agents. We saw the poll where Carroll was the coach that players would most want to play for. The relationship that Carroll and John Schneider have is pretty impressive and they have obviously done a great job in the draft and finding players who fit in with what they want to do. Since 2010, this roster has essentially been completely turned over.

I don't know if I believe that players would take less to play here, but at the same time, it wouldn't surprise me if some would.

I know this won't last forever but the Seahawks as an organization are in very, very good shape for the foreseeable feature.

I wonder if Peyton wishes he would have taken less money during these SB runs and allowed the Colts or Broncos to actually build a worthwhile defense.
While there's no question that Peyton's contract fills a huge part of the Broncos salary cap, I don't think you can blame the Denver defense for this loss. Given the safety, an interception for six and the excellent field position Seattle enjoyed all first half, that Denver was not down by 28 to 30 points at halftime was a miracle. They were able to stop the Seattle running game with the exception of two long runs by Harvin.

That said, it's interesting that Seattle has put together a winning team on a small salary scale. While I favor the draft as a way of keeping the competitive level of all the teams (Browns excepted) the draft creates a situation where too much money goes to unproven players and the style of play puts too much dependence (and thus too much money) upon a great QB and receivers.

I would go as far as to some from an aspect of pure production - Wilson is replaceable on this team.
He's a serviceable QB. The ground game makes this team go, Lynch, Turbin, and now Harvin. Had Denver possessed a semblance of a pass rush Wilson wouldn't have been able to throw those few strikes. He's good at buying time and throwing that seam fastball. Beyond that.....
