Super Bowl XLIX, Sun 2/1 @ 6:30p ET, NBC

When you are [Mark May]house rat crazy enough to call a play with 6 seconds left instead of taking the FG and are rewarded for such idiocy then you deserve to make a call like that and have it fail so spectacularly

I loved that call. There was time to run one play to the endzone. He knew he had the play and it was either going to be a TD or an incompletion.

That was a calculated risk that ultimately paid off.

Not running Marshawn Lynch on the 1 yard line when a TD means you win the Super Bowl? That's idiocy.

He didn't "know" anything, he could no more tell the future than you or I could.

He gets a bad snap, a scramble, a sack and he left points on the board. It was, imo, a bad bet (risk outweighed reward).

The second one was the queen mother of all bad bets

It was breathtaking in its stupidity

Buckeyes on the 1, a minute left to play, down 4 against Oregon. Three plays left, Zeke just gained 4 yards on first and goal from the 5. Meyer calls a slant pass to Thomas. It's picked off. Buckeyeplanet goes into full meltdown - why not give it to Zeke again, and again if necessary? Why? Why? Why?

Yeah, the call was THAT stupid.

Why do we root for various teams... I used to support the Seahawks because I spent a year at Ft. Lewis in 67 - 68 and at a time when most Americans went out of their way to shit on soldiers the folks in the Pacific Northwest were welcoming. Pete Carroll, Richard Sherman and Marshawn Lynch turned all that around, so did the idiocy of the 12th Man BS.

But Bellicek? Spygate, deflated footballs, Tom Brady adulation....

I was back to wishing for the meteor for the first half of the game- but in the end it was watching Pete eat a shit sandwich that made me happy.

I do feel sorry for Russel Wilson who's been nothing but a class act from Wisconsin till now.

6 seconds from the 2 yard line, gives you in most any situation enough time to take a shot if it isn't there line up for the FG. Running the ball and you risk a bad exchange on the read option, or a prolonged play that you get stopped short on then Wilson gets to relive the last few seconds of his Rose Bowl appearance all over again.

Bottom line, want to be Superbowl champs? Make the play.

Malcolm Butler made a better one.

I'm looking at the screen shot right now, Pats were sending 8 men and Revis was casually playing Baldwin on the motion, he was coming off the edge as well.
Kearse even started blocking the the DB long before Wilson started his wind up to throw. It's a play that should have been a touchdown. Just a freak move by Butler. One I doubt I'll live to see again in such a situation.

typical Pete Carroll. Try to pull some cutesy play so he will look like a football genius. One of the top backs in the league damn near puts it in then PC jerks that stupid shit out of his ass. I hate to see NE win but think I would hate it even more if that tool would have won. Is that the definition of angst hoping that neither team wins?

How about less than two minutes to play, first down near the fifty, you're up by seven and the bad guy has only 2 time outs left and you throw deep...

Coaches.

I’m in the Seahawks locker room. Wow. Talking about despair! Those who can speak are freely ripping that last play call. Big time.

Seattles time in the sun will soon be over... Petey can't control that locker room after that cluster fuck of a call... this is 05 vs Tejas all over for him...

edit: right on que -
Chip Brown @ChipBrownHD
Reminds me of Pete Carroll at #USC not having Reggie Bush on the field for 4th-and-2 vs #Texas w/ chance to put BCS national title away.
