Super Bowl XL - Steelers vs. Seahawks

Bettis is one of the few guys tha I think DESERVED a Super Bowl ring. Along with Barry Sanders, Dan Marino, John Elway (until he got 2) I guess all the guys that stick with their teams through the shitty years rather than demanding a trade to a team that is front runner.

I as wondering who would get there first - Irvin or Bettis. It seems likely to me that Bettis' popularity with the media and among his fellow professionals will give him pretty clean sailing by 2010-11. Can we say the same about Irvin?

I'd have to look at Irvin's career numbers, beyond the obvious 3 Super Bowl rings, but I don't think the fact he's a loudmouth crackhead should keep him out of the hall. If being a good person was a prerequisite I'm sure there are a bunch of people in the hall of fame that shouldn't be.

Could be, but if he keeps getting arrested every year, he won't ever get in. His ESPN commentary shouldn't count against him either, though based on that, he shouldn't even be allowed to (attempt to) say Hall of Fame, let alone get in. He'll get in eventually, but it may be when Emmitt goes in.

And what about last night's zebras? Can you believe how big a call that first pass interference call was? And what a cheesy call it was! They didn't get any better as the night went on.

The worst was Hasselback getting called for the hit below the waist when he made the tackle after his interception. Talk about adding insult to injury.

they fail to notice that quite a few fans and journalists across the nation felt the game had horrible reffing. (I've read texas, nc, and sc boards, and the complaints are fairly similar to this board). It's much easier to write it off as the natural response of bitter, jealous bengals/browns fans.

But I'm not a bitter Browns or Bengals fan. I don't root against the Bengals, but I also don't give much of a damn what happens... as long as someone is beating Dallas I'm happy.

my argument was with the steeler fans who stereotype everyone as steeler haters if they had any objection with the reffing. Not sure why you're responding to to my post, we're on the same side of the argument.

I'm not a Steelers fan at all, in fact I strongly dislike them. But, they did not win that game from poor calls, Seattle fucked themselves too many times. Shitty clock management several times.......many, many dropped passes. They played like a team that wanted to lose.

Perhaps it was their cakewalk Road to the Super Bowl.....Pittsburgh took a tough route to get there.

JMJ! (that's Jesus, Mary and Joseph for the uninitiated. In Catholicism, that's know as an 'ejaculation' but I'm not going there) Why did I mention the announcers? Am I the only one who thought this game was one of the supreme let downs in super Bowl history? How could a team of professionals twice screw up the last seven minutes of both halves the way Holmgren and Hasselback did? And what about last night's zebras? Can you believe how big a call that first pass interference call was? And what a cheesy call it was! They didn't get any better as the night went on.

Let down...yes. Mediocre....yes. Not the best performance by either team or the officials...yes.

That said, it still beats the Super Bowls of the late 80s and early 90s when the NFC champ would hang 40+ points on the AFC almost every year.
