I probably won't be able to make it there, but Rainbow Kitten Surprise w/ CAAMP at the Newport next week is going to be a really cool show. Both these bands are really on the rise and known for great live shows.

Is anybody else going to see Phil Collins at Nationwide this weekend?

I'm not much on concerts at this point (never have been really -- damn kids with their rock and/or roll music), but I ended up at the Black Keys (+Cage the Elephant) concert at the Schott last Friday.

Cage the Elephant was pretty meh (although I actually prefer their music to the Black Keys overall). They played a great set of songs, but the place was half-full while they were on, so the echoes threw everything out of balance. Just way too loud -- and not in the good way. Matt Shultz, although his energy was ridiculous, was just too far over-the-top. You could barely understand him as he was singing/screaming and he went crowd surfing on no less than three occasions. Oh and also ripped his shirt off. Fucking rockstars.

The Black Keys, however, were outstanding. Much, much better overall presentation (as would be expected) with the lighting and sound work, not to mention the quality of their performance. I don't love all of their songs on the radio, but in that setting, they were all outstanding. Would definitely go again. If you like them and get a chance to see them live, do it.
7 years later, this review still holds up, and I’m still so damn jealous that you caught these 2 awesome rock bands way back when @HipsterFungoSquiggly

CAAMP is doing a 2-night show at Express Live outdoors in August, tickets on sale now:

Yip!

I bought tickets to both these awesome shows scheduled for tonight, probably my two favorite bands right now, and went back and forth all summer which one I would attend… well a positive Covid test for my wife this week made all that moot. Booo! :sad2:
