Suicide Bomber Subdued by Airline Passengers (12/25/09)

I flew out of there prior to 9/11 and there was no way I was getting on board without my passport. I gotta believe it is even tougher now, or at least it should be...

Exactly. It's not entirely a security issue. If you don't have a US visa, you won't get into the US. A man was screaming at KLM at Schiphol back in the 1990s and they told him that he would not get into the US and that the airline did not want to be responsible for returning him to his point of departure.

Fail. As usual.

And don't get political - you aren't allowed.

It wasn't a horrible idea, actually. One of the BP posters awhile back posted about his time in Iraq. On one of his tours of duty he talked about how they educated the people they had detained. They came to find that many of these people couldn't read or write, and were lead to believe that Americans were executing children and a bunch of other rubbish after terrorists were "reading" them newspaper headlines. I'm paraphrasing a bit of course, but essentially these people were lead to believe a bunch of garbage throughout life which pushed them to terrorism and promises of riches in the afterlife. Some were trained to work in brick factories and other productive jobs, working along with members of factions they used to oppose.

Apples and oranges, I am the poster you are refering to. I spent 15 months running what is called TIFRC services (Theater Internment Facility Reconciliation Center) at Camp Bucca, Iraq teaching educational and vocational skills to detainees. I believe the point trying to be made is that this board is not the place for political discussion.

There was a recent documentary shot by an Australian or British reporter about the current Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and in it there was a clip of him speaking to a group of poor people in a remote village where he said that Amercia had 40 million homeless people. I can imagine the utter bullshit about America the average Iranian/Iraqi is shovel-fed on a daily basis.
