I give up. This board is too hard to understand.
Subway restaurant chain to end free-sandwich deal

Milford, Conn. - The Subway restaurant chain is ending its decades-old free-sandwich promotion, company officials said Thursday, amid concerns that counterfeiters were creating and selling copies of the restaurant's proof-of-purchase stamps and cards.

Under the Sub Club promotion, which had run in some form since the 1980s, customers received a stamp for every 6-inch sandwich they bought. A full card of eight stamps could be redeemed for a free sandwich.

But thousands of stamps are for sale at online auction sites, and company officials said franchise owners increasingly were discovering counterfeit stamps.

"It's possible some of the stamps got by, and we didn't even know," company spokesman Kevin Kane said. "It's possible we don't even know the extent of it."

Each restaurant can set its own time frame, but the promotion will be phased out companywide by Oct. 1, Kane said. He said the company had been considering whether the promotion was outdated for some time.

Meh, doesn't bother me any. I used to take advantage of the Sub Club big time since I've had a Subway 2-min from my office through two different jobs over the past 10 years, but lately (since I've been on the Jared diet) :wink2: I've cut back on the footlongs and have switched to ordering 6" subs with double-meat. Just as filling, costs $1.00 less, and with far less bread (e.g. sugar & white flour -- two things that have no nutritional value and screw up your metabolism to boot).

I could never say anything negative about Subway, I'm addicted to the 6" double-meat oven roasted chicken breast. When they run the two footlongs for $7.99 special I stock up and have cold subs for the next 3 days. :)

Yeah, the one by campus ended it last month. It sucks... I used to buy the stamps on eBay for just under a buck a card. You'd end up with a footlong and bag of chips for $2.50-$2.75. hell of a deal. as far as I can tell the stamps were real, but who knows?

This is still pissing me off because I eat there probably 3-4 times a week :mad1:

There is relief in sight. Subway is supposed to be working on a plastic card with a magnetic strip so as to eliminate the counterfeiting problem of the stamps. They aren't opposed to the "frequent buyer" incentives, but just don't want to be giving out free grub to the thieves.
