Student Tickets (Merged)

Uh, I think students are paying $10K a year for an education and work full time at OSU to make a living, not for the right to buy football tickets.

There are 110k seats in that stadium for a reason.. Block O sells out immediately for a reason.. the students buy all the tickets they can for a reason..

We're paying for more than an education. I know I am. If I didn't give a shit about sports, I'd agree. Do you realize how much money the university is making off the students? They certainly have the right to complain if they want. I'm very rarely in complete disagreement with someone, but being a student myself, I'm in complete disagreement with your opinion. It really just makes absolutely no sense to me.

You want to know why OSU is my favorite school? It's certainly not because of its academics. I'm a student here for academics, certainly, but I'm not going to Northwestern because there are things other than an education that factored into my decision to go to OSU. Football is a big factor, for sure. I'd be kidding myself if I said otherwise. I'm sure 30% of the Shoe next Saturday will agree with me.

Geez..........with every coming year is yet another batch of students that are complaining about their seat locations. Be happy to be in the damn stadium, season tickets are a luxury not a necessity. Ironically, over half of these same students will be the first to sell their "prime" tickets on Ebay if the price is right. So, I guess in some ways the student has dug their own grave.

Very true...... Personally, I love the idea of all of these student tickets on the market on yearly basis. It drives the prices down because the market becomes saturated. I'm just simply saying that their platform to argue on is a bit narrow.

Don't trivialize the dedication shown by many of OSU's student fans - I was offered $1200 straight up for my front row 2006 Michigan ticket, and I turned it down. Likewise, most of the students sitting around me were the same ones that had been there all season. You could never pay me enough to part with my ticket to a Buckeye game - I would almost certainly blow through the money (possibly in a couple of awesome bar tabs, haha), but the memories will last forever. 42-39...

I don't know where I'm sitting yet, but I'm fine with whatever I get. I'm one of the people who is happy to be able to enjoy the atmosphere. But if someone is giving the university over $10,000 every year (for potentially four years, or more), they certainly have a right to complain..

Those students probably wouldn't be selling those tickets on eBay if the price of tuition didn't rise $600 per quarter.

Jinkies... we pay $12K a year per kid for Montessori school and we don't even have a football team. :smash::smash:

Do students have a right to expect tickets at "student" prices? Yes, I believe they do. Do you have a right to gripe about where you sit? Heck, I guess if you have nothing else in life to gripe about... feel free.

Like others have said... enjoy them while you can, no matter where you are sitting. In a few years you'll bitch about how hard it is to get tickets as opposed to where you are sitting.

In the mean time... enjoy every second you've got in 43210. It will go by far too quickly.

:oh:

How much of each student's tuition money is the football team getting?

If the team is as self-sufficient as reports make them seem, the students don't have any more right to complain than anyone else in the state that is "giving" money to the university system.

With that in mind though, I would still spend 15 years at a satellite campus if it meant that I could get tickets.

the AD receives no funding from the university. actually the AD is run as a seperate entity and the last few years has donated to the university general fund.
