3,500 Extra Student Football Tickets Planned for 2008

Moves the total Student Ticket head-count up to 30,000 - claimed to be largest in the country.
Come next fall, there likely will be 3,500 more Ohio State University students rooting for the Buckeyes at the 'Shoe.

Ohio State's Athletic Council approved a proposal last night to raise the number of student tickets to 30,000 per game -- more than any other college in the country, officials say.
The plan still will be presented to the president's cabinet and the Board of Trustees early next year.
"Ohio State football is very, very popular, and everyone wants to be a part of it," said Bill Jones, OSU's director of ticketing. "We realize the importance of students to the university and appreciate that going to Buckeye games has become the thing to do."
Ohio State says it will be able to give more tickets to students without taking away from alumni, donors and faculty members, which is true in principle but not exactly in practice.
Now if only they can get them all together in one section. :wink2:

No joke. Why don't they just stick all of us in the south endzone? (I realize there are a lot of students down there, but why not put all students together as opposed to spread out in the stadium?)

I kind of like the idea of students being spread out in different sections throughout the stadium. IMO, it makes the stadium as a whole louder as I think older fans feed off the students' energy, rather than simply having one part of the stadium that's really loud.

That makes sense in theory, but not in practice. Most (or many) students not in the south endzone end up sitting most of the game. Last year I sat in 9A, and I would try to stand up to cheer and have old people yell at me to sit down. imo, having the students together makes each student as loud as possible (on average). I think that the rest of the crowd can feed off of the student section.

Student season tickets went on sale April 1st at midnight. Block O tickets sold out within eight hours.

The student season ticket package includes the Minnesota, Purdue, Penn State, and Michigan home games and costs 124$ plus a 6$ "processing" fee.

There is also the option of buying student tickets for all other games, however, everything is already sold out except for YSU, OU, Troy, and Northwestern.

The three home games still available cost 31$ and the Northwestern game costs 50$ (prices don't include processing fees so the actual cost is probably a few dollars more).

The only way to order is online at THE OFFICIAL TEAM SHOP - OHIO STATE BUCKEYES OFFICIALLY LICENSED MERCHANDISE & TICKETS

Thanks. Do you remember how the $31 price compares to last seasons ticket?

About the same. The price last year was something close to 150$ (looking back I'm pretty sure this was '06 not '07) but included five games instead of four. In '05 I bought the Texas home game as well (in addition to the season package) and it was in the 30$ range as well.
