Strength of Schedule (merged)

Oh, ND's schedule is tough. It just so happens that 51 teams have tougher! I have to listen to the domers in chicago talk all the time about how great and hard ND's schedule is.

Yeah, me too. And of course last year's was tough too...even though only like 3 or 4 teams went to bowl games...the names alone (Washington, Tennessee, Syracuse) apparently made it tough...despite the combined 7-26 record or whatever it was of those three. I actually agree with them when they say they can't be held responsible for how good the teams on the schedule are any particular year...just don't go around acting like they were so tough to play then!

Thanks Sandgk. We really won't know much about SOS until the season gets through the first four or five weeks. USC and Notre Dame playing a tougher schedule than us? Big Ten weaker this year? Depends on a lot of things. We'll see.

My point in starting the thread, and the thread on our cumulative winning percentage, is to remind everyone that Notre Dame played a pretty weak schedule and they haven't been a top program for a long time.

On the other hand, the Ohio State Buckeyes have been in the top ten during anyone's lifetime. We are the real deal and teams line 'em up the best they can every time they play us. Every week. Every time.

Sure, we lit up Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl, but we have some tough games ahead of us. We have a good, but less experienced defense than we have had in some time.

This year, once again, we play one of the toughest schedules in all of college football. So, expect some games to be very close. Texas, Iowa, and Michigan State will be real testers.

Even as good as we appear to be, we will need some luck to get through this season undefeated. Personally, I think we can do it.
