Steve Sarkisian - (Cutty Sark after Dark, Texas HC)

Lane was late to several team meetings and media events. That's the reason why Saban kicked him out "mid post season" as you put it. According to an ESPN article, Kiffin wouldn't have been allowed to come back next year. And he made a joke saying there isn't any fun at Alabama. And that he couldn't recall any fond memories, only "ass-chewings." He also said that the Kiffin-Saban marriage was over (not a joke). Make of that what you will. When Schiano was asked about the 2 year commitment, he said he didn't know anything about it. I suspect the two year commitment was more for the start of his tenure at tOSU than now. I haven't heard anyone mention this after the initial states of Urban Meyer being hired by tOSU. I would be very interested in knowing if anyone else has?

If you don't think that Urban is as "cutthroat" as Saban, you should watch him threatening a reporter with revoking his priveleges while at UF. I don't think that part has changed. He just learned to handle losses better.

At a place like tOSU, I feel frequent turnover should not be considered a problem. But I felt Urban hired Beck to avoid staff turnover as much as possible. I guess time will tell whether he still feels this way. If someone wants to leave after 1 year, recruit them (yes, the coaches), get them back if possible. But to retain someone in spite of non performance for the sake of the 2-year obligation is not optimal... I feel.

Urban knows more about personnel than I ever well, so take the above with a pinch of salt.

At this point, I have complete and utter faith in Urban.
Threatening a reporter who made one of his players look bad is one thing. Firing a friend and a colleague is quite another

Of course the coaching staff isn't going to mention their agreement. It likely isn't officially part of their contract, just a "handshake" deal. Assistants come to OSU for the chance to be HCs, they're not going to broadcast they are staying in case they interview after year 1, like Schiano, Herman, and others have. Trust and loyalty (to a reasonable extent) is a huge part of the Football coaching community. There are connections between almost every coach it seems and undermining that by pulling the plug after one year will create a poor reputation.

And Urban most definitely is not as cutthroat as Saban, when it comes to his coaching staff - which is what my original comment was referring to. At least recently, he has gone out of his way to ensure parting assistants have a landing spot - even if the move is privately one-sided from Urban (see: Withers, Hinton, hopefully Beck). He is not going embarrass his staff like Brian Kelly at ND. Those rats are jumping ship and no one wants to coach there now.

Read in between the lines a bit.

Arbitrator rules in favor of USC over Steve Sarkisian in $30 million wrongful termination lawsuit

An arbitrator has ruled in favor of USC in a wrongful termination lawsuit brought by former Trojans coach Steve Sarkisian.

In the suit, Sarkisian was reportedly seeking $30 million, asserting that USC had not allowed him to seek treatment for alcoholism, which is recognized as a disability under the law.

The arbitrator ruled that USC is not responsible for any further compensation and denied the suit. USC athletic director Lynn Swann released a statement Monday acknowledging the arbitrator's decision, which ruled against Sarkisian on all counts.
