As for me, I just got lucky that the Red Wings became good in the mid 90s and it lasted almost 20 years. The first few years that i could understand hockey, I could never understand why they weren't so great back in the mid-80s...
I was too young for the Orioles last title in 1983, but at least I got to watch Ripken growing up.
I never got into the NFL until I moved to Ohio and I picked the Browns

Sorry, the accomplishing anything part was directed towards the Bengals side of things. And I'm 23. I was 3 days old when the Bengals were in the Super Bowl.... Needless to say, I've never seen my team win a playoff game.

No, that would be Mike Brown. Note your birth happened not much before Paul Brown died and Mike took over. I think that is a bit more relevant.
