It did look like a bad call from a common sense perspective. But I wouldn't be surprised if there is some archane rule in effect that makes an incomplete pass the right call.

Kind of like the tuck rule. It was pretty obvious that Brady fumbled, but the correct call was an incomplete pass due to that stupid rule.
