A Kenner man has been arrested after shooting two men who wanted to
fight him over a sexually-transmitted disease, Kenner police said today.
Marcus D. Flakes, 19, 2510 33rd St., Kenner, was booked Wednesday with
two counts of aggravated battery, illegal use of a weapon and four counts
of aggravated assault after a March 16 shooting. Kenner police officers were
dispatched to reports of gunfire in the 1700 block of Newport Place about 6:30
p.m. on March 16, the report said.
When they arrived, a group of five men, two of them injured, were running
away, according to the arrest report. One man had been shot in the lower
leg and the other in the left knee.
The man who had been injured in the lower leg said he and his friends
were going to Newport Place to fight Flakes and his friends, the report
said. The victim said Flakes had sex with the victim's girlfriend and gave
her a sexually-transmitted disease and she consequently gave it to the
victim, the report said. The report didn't identify which disease.
