Starbucks: No coffee for Marines

Large cup of home-brewed coffee taken to work in a thermos ~$0.10

Please explain? We've been getting free coffee long before I joined. It's not me bringing it.

Ok, well nonetheless, I think it's catered. Just about the best deal ever.

If the coffee is free and catered, why are you bringing it in a thermos from home?

At first, I wasn't going to ding you for being so fucking gullible as to believe anything anyone would e-mail you, but two bolded grade-school errors compelled me to do so...
Thank you sir for pointing out my mistakes. Please note that I've made your suggested corrections to my post.
Oh, one more thing, at first I wasn't going to ding you for being a asshole, but I guess I am too gulible to believe otherwise.

Speaking of being edumacated by xit coming out of Florida, I noted while reading Merrill Peterson's bio of Thomas Jefferson that in Jefferson's day, Florida was referred to as "the Floridas."

Can someone in the know walk me through the source and evolution of the term? Thanks.

I think they actually referred to it as "teh Floridas".

For added humor, read buckeyebilly's posts with a Richard Christie accent.

Off topic, but speaking of providing stuff to those who serve...last night I finally got to do something I've always wanted to do: treat a coupla strangers in uniform to dinner. God bless 'em.

As a retired soldier I thank you for showing your support of our service men and women. It is people like you that these people feel proud to represent. More people need to spend the few seconds it takes and simply say thank you to those who have served and are currently serving our country.
You will find a extra 100 points in your account.

Like I told them last night, I am owed no thanks. Rather, its those two and veterans like you who have my gratitude. Thank you for serving! And for dem points! (Remind me to figure out how points work around here!)

No offense because I support our veterans 100%, but isn't it standard practice for current soldiers and veterans to treat their job as if it were thankless? I never hear the military or vets say stuff like this, including the many of vets who are currently members of this message board.

Oh and thanks to them as always.

I do not believe that members of the military think about being thanked at all. This is why when they are it means more. It's really not a matter of what they expect, but by being caught off guard by the act that is special.
I do it because I know how surprised I was, and how it made me feel, during the first gulf war when it happened to me. But this isn't about what I get out of it, except that maybe I've made someone else feel appreciated for what they have done.
You say you never hear the military or vets say stuff like this, I would challenge you to ask a Vietnam Veteran if he or she would have liked to have been simply thanked.

I know being caught off guard by the act is special, and I know they would love being thanked. I have been in numerous parades and thanked vets because I do appreciate what they have done. What I was saying is that I've never heard a vet before state to the general public they should consider thanking vets more often.
