Pleasantly surprised. Much better than the first two. Only drawback was that they had to fit so much into this one movie...........seemed like everything happened so fast. Seems weird thinking that there will be no more.........until somebody decides to do 7, 8, and 9 of course.
 
If this is indeed going to be Lucas' last foray into the SW universe, then it is good that he has ended on a high note.

A distinct improvement over the earlier two "prequel" SW movies, Revenge of the Sith hangs the special effects around the story, not the converse. There are at worst 3 slower moving scenes that could have been sped up with better editing. Definitely worth a trip to movies.com or Fandango to make sure you get tickets to the showing of your choice.

Make sure you are in your seats before the opening sequence, its an eye-popper. Oh, and do the other folks in the theater a favor -- tell those chatty kids behind you to shut the hell up, or else!

One last thought - For those seeing the flick on its first weekend I'd highly recommend stadium seating and a great sound system as pre-requisites.

I saw it today...unfortunately, there was a screaming kid that people asked the parent to leave the theater with. Predictably, the parent got defensive and aggressive, ushers had to be called, and there was almost a fight.


That aside, there was a lot to like about this movie. Some really hokey dialogue in spots, and there were several things not to like about the last 10 minutes, but overall I thought it was way above the threshold for being worth the price of admission. Overall, I thought they blew through some seminal moments that really were worth thinking about and tied all the stories together and focused too much time on some other stuff not as important, but hey, it will get me to watch it twice to get it all probably.

Yoda was totally the shit in this movie (much better than the last one), I especially loved all of the scenes on the Wookie planet (I always liked Chewbacca), and I was pleasantly surprised with the job Ewan did. I still hate HC, but he wasn't quite so bad in this movie. The love scenes still sucked, but there weren't as many, and they didn't detract from the story like they did in II. I also really liked General Grievous.

Overall I thought B+.

As for 7-9, I've heard both extremes from multiple sources: 1) that he's completely finished and wants to move on entirely with the new Indiana Jones flick and other projects, and 2) that he already has the script ready and is officially scheduled to begin production in 2008. Not sure which to believe...but I guess that's what he wants.

3 was definitely the best of the prequels. But, for those of you who haven't seen it and are thinking of taking young kids, there's a reason it's rated PG-13. No joke, I've got a friend who promised his 6-year old he could see Episode 3. Anyway, not to get this thread into a discussion about parenting techniques (I'm not even a parent), but I've got a pretty good feeling that he's going to follow up on his promise, and take his son to see it. The kid isn't going to be happy for a couple days. So my advice is to see it first and then decide for yourself whether you want your kids to see it.

Like I said, 3 was the best of the prequels. I liked the wookies, and, like Bucklion said, Yoda kicked ass. I don't hate Hayden Christiansen. I thought he did an awesome job. To me, he was perfect for the "good vs. evil" internal struggle character. But what do I know? I like Spongebob Squarepants. (Though I doubt he'd make a good Anakin Skywalker.)

The only thing I'd ever heard about 7-9 was that he was NOT going to make them. He had been planning on making them, but decided against it. I hope he doesn't. In my opinion, you end on a high note. Don't come out of retirement after a hall-of-fame career to play for the Wizards.

Loved it.
The light saber battles were epic. Even better than the Darth Maul fight in Episode 1. The opening scene was incredible. The dialog was cheesy, and kind of campy at times, but watch every single Star Wars movie, and it is exactly the same. One appearance by Jar Jar, and no speaking lines was also a highlight. Hayden Christiansen made a great Anakin Skywalker. If you go back to 4-6 and watch Luke while he's struggling with becoming a Jedi. You'll see that he's a whiny ass punk too. There just wasn't anyone telling him that he's the chosen one, for 15 years. HD portrayed the internal struggle as good as anyone could've, and he was able to make the transition from internal struggle to cold blooded killer pretty seamlessly.

I will definitely have to go see this one again, in the theatres. Just have to figure out when a good kid-free time would be. One adult, three kids under the age of six...bad idea lady. Thanks for leaving a little over half way through the movie.

7,8,9 are sitting there........waiting to be made. Lucas doesnt want to make them, but he said if someone else picks up the scripts.......he'll let them make it. Something to that effect anyway. Have any of you read the books? The last 3 were my favorite, probably because Lucas didnt write em :) I honestly do hope that they get made into movies.

If anyone should make Episodes VII - IX, I hope it's Lawrence Kasdan and Irvin Kershner. I don't think it's a coincidence that these two, and not Lucas, were the ones chiefly responsible for the best Star Wars film of the six, Empire Strikes Back, which also had far-and-away the best acting and dialog of any of the films. Kershner, I believe, is in his 80s now, but Kasdan is in his mid/late 50s and has always been a brilliant screenwriter (e.g. Episode V, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Big Chill, Accidental Tourist, Grand Canyon).

What are 7-9 supposedly based on ? Timothy Zahn wrote a pretty good series of novels dealing w/ the follow-up war after the Return of the Jedi. I have only read a few, but there are shitloads of Star Wars books out there, that have pretty much filled up the timeline-Lucas did not license the time period for episodes 1-3 on purpose, but storyline wise, everything after IV is filled.

Yep those kick ass as well............If you have ever played the jedi knight games on pc, (dark forces, jedi knight, jedi outcast, jedi academy, etc..........they tell alot of the story after return.

Pay attention, guys. Jar-Jar DID have a line. ONE line. He clearly said "Excuse me," while walking the recently 'rescued' palpatine into the building, toward the beginning of the movie. :)

Not sure if these are legit, but these are supposedly Lucas' plot scripts for episodes 7, 8, and 9. Well, VII, VIII, and IX. :biggrin:

Episode VII - The Fallen Hero
Episode VIII - The Republic in Crisis
Episode IX - Victory of the Force

Tough shit Jar-Jar :) -- I'm not going to forgive his over-inflated role in the earlier prequels.
