Stanford 55, USC 21 (final)

Somebody needs to reach out to Harbaugh at the end of the season.

I suspect that Notre Dame might do just that.

After Harbaugh accused UM's football program of basically being academically fraudulent a year or two ago, I don't see UM going after him. It will be interesting to see if they actually cut the cord with RROD as well. Much as I hear the old-school Michigan Men hate him, and as poorly as he's doing, two years and out seems unfair for a guy who UM knew was going to completely restructure the team. They're very young, and if they ever stop shooting themselves in the foot, I think they'll be dangerous, at least offensively, sooner rather than later.

Re. ND possibly reaching out to Harbaugh, one would have to believe that the Stanford victory over USC has created some buzz among the Domer faithful. . . .
What had been the "rivalry" in the 90's could be restored with the hope of an Irish return to the days of glory with an anointed coach, one who has that special formula to beat the dreaded foe.
Sounds like what happened in 1988, when a search committee saw the results of the 1986 Rose Bowl.
But alas sometimes hope and logic just doesn't work out. :(

Maybe I'm just embittered the negativity that I've read and heard the last 24 hours about my Buckeyes, but I find it absolutely fascinating the two recent drubbings of USC haven't brought about more incendiary media attention.

I hate to remind myself in written word, but "fuck the pundits and the media".

Anyone read the lips during the post game hand shake?

PC: "What's your deal? What's your deal?"

Harbaugh: "What's your deal?"

I loved it...but the next time a Harbaugh coached team goes up against Pete Carrol they are going to get mollywomped.

And how about Stanford's classless band? Since when do band geeks take pot shots at opposing teams?

You've never seen the Leland Stanford Junior University Marching Band band before have you?

Kevin Moen didn't "accidentally" flatten that trombone player.

Could you imagine the uproar in AA next season (or in the near after) if JH goes to South Bend and starts to have success while they're stuck with RR. As much as I hate the Domers, it would be hilarious. I don't think that much could top the past couple of seasons, but that would definitely come close.

There's blood in the Pac Ten water and a lot of teams will punk this SC team before the season ends.

They have 2 games left, with one of them against UCLA... and as much as that's a rivalry game, I don't think they have the offense to pull off a victory.

Arizona might, though.

I don't think that USC would beat the Buckeyes today. It's a rebuilding year and it sounds like more than injuries is wrong. What do you guys think USC will be like next year?

I don't think they would today, either, but give them a month off (December) and play in January... yeah, I would still take the Trojans.

Next year, I think it's going to depend a lot on what coaching changes are made (assistant coaches, coordinators, etc.) and what recruiting happens in the WR position. There will have to be a lot of growth on the DL and LB position.

So basically... wait and see. I don't think they'll be immediately back on top, if that's what you're asking. The Pac-10 is very deep now and with a lot of young teams as well.

I think when they're healthy they can beat anybody but there is something else wrong other than injuries. That defense has got absolutely used twice already in the last few weeks. I thought the Oregon game was just the Duck's scheme confusing the hell out of them but Stanford stuffed it down their throat, ran right through them. I wasn't expecting that.

I'm completely flummoxed by the poor performance of the team that I frankly believe has the best collection of talent in the nation. Pete Carroll can recruit with anybody, but his Xs and Os skill set seems to be beyond laughable.

Does anybody think Jim Tressel would lose more than a game every couple of years with USC's talent?

I can understand the offense struggling with a freshman qb and a new coordinator but isn't carroll supposed to be some kind of great defensive coach in his own right? Their D was dominant last year and I don't think that what's his face (up at Washington now) was totally responsible for it seeing all the gaffs he's had this year (especially the end of the ASU game). They have great talent on defense still, it's their minds are screwed up. It reminds me of that former pitcher for the Cardinals who's now an outfielder. He was great and then he just lost it, couldn't throw a strike if his life depended on it. That's where the USC D is right now.
