That one sounds pretty original, but there are 2 problems. You're fake line would have to be made up of linebackers who are wearing numbers in the 50's because you can't have ineligible receivers whose numbers don't fall in the 50-79 range. If you were able to do that with OSU's offense the other team would probably crap their pants and call a time out before you get the play off.

Anyone ever watch the Browns when they had the UFO defense a few years ago? Now that was a thing of beauty.

You can't "declare inelligible" the same way that you can "declare elligible?"

That's not such a bad result, is it? They may need to call a second time out to finish putting on their clean pants.

You can't declare anything in college. If you ever have an OL that you want to line up at TE or FB you have to change his jersey. I don't know if you can "declare ineligible" in HS or the NFL anyway, never seen it done.

Wow. I never knew that. I thought they could declare elligible, but they didn't announce it over the PA system like they do at NFL games. They say that you learn something new every day. I guess that in this case, it's something that's actually interesting.

Are numbers in the 90's elligible or inelligible? I guess sometimes you see tight ends with 90's, but its pretty rare. So I guess I answered my own question. But that's another question: why aren't there more receivers with numbers in the 90's?

Alright.. while we're coming up with stupid formations, here's mine:

(I can't believe I'm actually admitting that I came up with this.)

First of all, forget everything you know about typical formations. Then put the ball on the right hash mark. Put the center where he goes, at the ball. The two tackles, and two guards, do not go right next to the center. Stick them way over on the left. Put them all right up on the line, and right next to each other. To the left of them, put a receiver on the line, and to the right of the center, put a tight end. Puking, yet?

Ok, put the QB in shotgun behind the center. Just to the left of the QB, put a RB. Maybe Chris Wells would be good for that spot. Behind the majority of the offensive linement, put another RB. Maybe Pittman would fit well in that spot. Now, somewhere, anywhere, put another receiver. He could go wide right, maybe between the ball and the majority of the offensive line. Or maybe he's just to the left of the center, but back off the line.

So if the defense loads up near the QB, he launches the ball to Pittman, who has loads of blockers. If the defense loads up against Pittman, the QB can either hand off to Wells, who runs around right end, or keep it himself, and either run straight or use Wells as a lead blocker. Maybe he could run some passing plays from that formation, but with all the blockers way over there, they're useless.

It all reminds me of how some teams line up way off the ball on extra point attempts and then shift over to attempt the extra point, for real.

We ran this same exact play. Except we had the whole line(center and all) to the right. And put our WR at center. Our QB went back in shotgun. Whetstone put two of their lineman by the ball. With the rest of their defenders on the other side of the field. WR snapped the ball and ran past the two d-lineman. Our QB backpedaled and tossed the ball up to the WR for a TD.

Worked perfect. We used a fake version of this play on the extra point.

Oh, you're talking about a swimming play?

They moved Tyree to TE for the scum game, but he had to change his number. We had a situation similar to that when I was in college. I would think if it was as simple as declaring that they were illegible to the ref they wouldn't have to change numbers.

Last Game, New Faces: Two players, one just beginning his Buckeye career and one coming to the end of his Buckeye career, saw their first extensive action of their careers against the Wolverines on Saturday.

Fifth year senior Andre Tyree played extensively at tight end for the Buckeyes and played extremely well. Tyree spent most of his OSU career as an offensive lineman, but the Buckeyes needed a mauler at that position against the Wolverines, and Tyree got the call.
"It means a lot to me, because it means the coaches have faith in me," said Tyree, whose OSU career has been marred by a succession of injuries.
"It's our biggest game of our season, and they put me in there to grind it out. We were down on the goal line and they called my number to win the game, so it meant a lot to me that they had enough faith in me to put me in there."
Tyree has been practicing at tight end for about three weeks, but played that position in high school.

I was about to use Tyree as an example. I had forgotten that they changed his number for it.
